Chunky quality plastic frame, not the brittle type. Arms pivot right round to prevent over sprain and inevitable breakage; no danger of little fingers becoming trapped either. It's lovely these child sized glasses are actually wide enough to fit a child's head; the flexible arms help. There are two open slits at the top of each lens frame, one lens easily slots into each. Lenses are sturdy with a good thickness and a protruding rounded lobe to grip. Six flat lenses are supplied in non patterned, transparent primary colours: 2 X Red, 2 X Blue, 2 X Yellow and 2 X flat Insect eye patterned, clear lenses. Measurements approx: Diameter without lobe 5.5 cm, with lobe 6.5 cm Thickness 1.5 mm Unfortunately the lenses came out easily if the head was tilted too much. This was frustrating when bending down to view something low down or on the ground. Having to walk around holding them on became frustrating too. We overcame this lens loss irritation by pushing a small blob of blu-tac over the top securing the lenses in place. These insect lenses were a complete and utter failure we found. They did nothing to show how humans perceive an insect would see - For that we bought a pair of bug glasses from Wil-co's pocket money section, which have absolutely brilliant concave orange bug lenses, they work! We also found the arms could have been a little more curved as there is little to keep them behind the ears. A few more mm would make all the difference. Again holding them on proved frustrating, so fixing elastic around the ends of the arms helped. Frame measurements approx: Lens frame full width 13.5 cm Lens frame height/diameter just under 6 cm Lens frame depth 2.5 cm Arm only length 11.5 cm Arm + frame side length 14 cm Arm inner width at max 16 cm - the anti sprain 'give' would allow these to go wider, keeping the arms in place with elastic. We found the coloured lenses to be excellent for viewing through primary colours creating a different mood change for creative art. They also add a different dimension just wearing to view the world. These give a good idea of blending to create secondary colours, though perhaps rather subtle and the included leaflet on colour mixing is a useful addition. The coloured lenses certainly add to dressing up play too. We are glad to have these, it's just a shame we had to add blu-tac and elastic to make them fully child usable. Sadly 4 stars as they required tweaking!

Great toy but poor learning resource
Review and question about colour mixing glasses. - This is a fantastic learning resource and toy my kids love it as most kids would. However when I brought these I didn't look closely and so when I opened them I was very dissapointed to learn that they were not the primary colours of light for the filters and there is a yellow not green one. This means that I can not use these to teach my children about light primary and secondary colours and colour mixing at all. I am very dissapointed, please could you explain why these do not have the primary colours as filters. As a secondary teacher it is hard enough to teach that the primaries are different in light and painting as it is. I was going to buy a whole class set for work but not now there is yellow not green I am afraid I can't. I feel that this has missed a trick here. Although my own kids still love it and they are none the wiser I just would like you to explain why this seemingly strange decision was made.

Fun
I bought these for the nursery children and they love them but they do keep falling off. There is no way to tighten the arms so it's a bit of a disappointment when they fall off.

Disappointing
Pretty disappointing, difficult for kids to fit the new colour lenses and the colours don't mix well at all to produce the expected colours when combined

Nette Idee.
