A great item.
A lovely piece of kit, easy to use and very tactile, looks much smarter than other plastic ones. Customer service also excellent, friendly and efficient, I recommend them.

The best bean sprouter I've used
the design means that the beans never sit in water as the water filters through to the bottom tray. This is essential, as previous amateur attempts by me have meant that I've overwatered, or forgotten to water, and the seeds rot or die. Provided you fill you the water in the top tray to the lip, the water in the tray won't overspill (unless you forget to empty the water tray at the bottom before you next water the beans!). The drain holes are small enough for flax seeds to fit into them, (so don't sprout flax) and a pin is needed to clean the holes. I had thought of drilling out the holes a little, but realised that if I did: (a) seeds larger than flax seeds would fall into them, but more importantly (b) the water would drain through more quickly, thus decreasing the amount of time that the beans and sprouts are soaking in the water. Overall, an excellent design, and aesthetically pleasing, so it looks like an ornament rather than a piece of plastic that needs putting out of the away in a cupboard. This factor alone means that I remember to water the sprouts morning and evening. Highly recommended.

Mould
I purchased this last year and have Ben so so happy with the looks of it. Like a small Japanese garden in my home. Then, like some of the reviewers mentioned I got frustrated with taking the seeds out with a dreadlocks needle, time consuming and one of my needles broke in the process. A few months later, with regular use I noticed that mould started to grow, small white spores, I used ALL sorts of sprays including keeping the sprouter in the oven for a while, I'm aware of mould toxicity and no thanks to that. No matter what I did, the sprouter grew mould back again within days.So now, I don't use it. It sits on my window sil used as an ornament. I'll probably plant some succulents in it. Totally missed the point. So room for improvement? 1. Seller could include something for removing the fallen seeds, such as broccoli seeds which is what I sprouted the most foe their benefits. Can be innovative, like a sieve or something. 2. Definitely work on mould resistance, maybe coating it with something or at least warn people.I will NOT be buying another one. Thanks

Yeah, it's ok and so far works for alfalfa seeds
I'm with most reviewers, it would be really nice if it was glazed. Oh the rustic look, yay! No, not yay at all. But is it functional? So far, it's doing ok. I've tried two different sets of seeds and the only one that really took was the alfalfa. In a different container, they get very green when in a clear glass with a mesh lid (so it spends the time in the light). In this one, they get no light, so they're all white. They're still tasty (though...I kind of think you get a stronger flavour with the ones in the light). Easy? Yeah, now the holes are small and the seeds smaller, so you might have to pick them out. From other reviews, I decided to cut a paper towel into quarters and place one piece in each layer and then put the seeds over. When you pour water over the top one (once they're stacked) the water trickles through the paper towels, which help to keep the seeds from the ceramic holes. Then empty the bottom reservoir. I haven't seen any mold (someone said to add a bit of vinegar when washing, but I haven't gotten that far yet). One thing I'll add is that when using a paper towel in each layer, if you lift the lid or layer it can stick to the paper towel and jolt everything. Not a killer problem, just something to watch and don't just rapidly pull up a layer when you want to take a look.

Excellent works well
Excellent for sprouting seeds work really well and sprouting within 24 hours things like mung beans and red lentils etc. Keeps them moist and not too wet really like it looks good in the kitchen too . Great quality it is a little heavy as it terracotta but works so much better than the plastic ones I've used in the past. Easy to clean it's also great that you can raise during the day to allow air to flow whilst still staying moist then close up at night.

Doesn't work for the very seeds for which it's meant
This type of sprouter, being terracotta, should be just right for small seeds, particularly mucilaginous seeds (the ones which clump and are 'sticky') - but this Geo sprouter just isn't.The seeds sprout unevenly, or not at all, and those that do sprout don't sprout particularly well.Cleaning up, as other reviewers have mentioned, is a nightmare. The small seeds stick to the sprouter and they stick inside the drainage holes. I have spent a lot of time just trying to clear unsprouted seeds from the drainage holes - frustrating to say the least. Some of the seeds (I've tried a whole range, everything from mixed 'salad' seeds to leek, broccoli, chia, radish, etc.) and I've just ended up spending a huge amount of time trying to get the sprouter parts clean - and nothing has sprouted properly. (All the seeds are organic and fresh.)I've also ended up with mould appearing in some of the trays - and I've never had this with terracotta before.Avoid - don't waste your money (and your time).
