Is there a way to prevent melting? I'd love to send these to my parents in Nevada, but I'm worried they'd completely melt by the time they got it.

Chocolate is shipped all over the world including Nevada so I don't think it would be a problem.

Is there a way of knowing the expiration date before I purchase them?

I don't think so ! When I ordered mine the date was fine and they got " very quickly " eaten as they are absolutely delicious !
