Sealey Digital Vernier Calliper 0-150mm/0-6 - AK962EV

I needed to take an accurate measurement for a watch pin, and got fed up of trying with a ruler staring at the graduations with one eye closed, squinting to try to take a measurement. In the end, I opted for this as it looked good, well priced and had good reviews.This comes in a nice hard plastic case with a clear perspex flip open lid. The ruler sits nicely on the foam backing and locates in the protruding plastic to make it more secure when moving. I was more surprised to see a spare battery in there as the machine already had a battery fitted. There is also a set of instructions.Hold the on/off button to turn the display on. To the right of this is a zero button to reset the readout to 0. The two buttons on the top are unit measurement (mm or inch) and ABS/O for obtaining a second reading.You use your thumb on the bottom roller to open and close the guides. At first I thought it was not working as it was just turning and not opening the prongs, but soon realised that you also need to apply a bit of pressure as well. After this it was easy to use. Display is good and clear going down to 0.01mm and 0.001”. This has made measuring a lot easier and more accurate than before.Yes, there are cheaper alternatives out there, but I believe that it is worth paying more for an accurate device rather than saving a few pennies and having to buy another one because the first purchase was not up to the job. For such a low outlay in price, I think this is worthy of any tool set.

I have to say I was worried ordering one of these as most of the cheaper LCD Vernier callipers get poor reviews and this one, being new, had only a few reviews - although all are very good four or five stars. Because of my worries, I all-but ordered the much more expensive Matsituyo brand even though I only need them for casual DIY use. Anyway, they arrived promptly and... I needn't have worried - at all! These callipers are a first class, well-made measuring device; they work utterly perfectly and have their own well-made case and full well written instructions; they also have a separate on/off switch to conserve battery power. A spare battery is even included in the deal.I really cannot understand how such an advanced precision product can be made for such a low price - but they are. You can buy them with confidence from this excellent company.

For the money paid I can't complain at all. Well packaged in a hard plastic case and a spare battery too is useful. Not that you need to be a rocket scientist to use them, but a decent instruction pamphlet is also included. I primarily wanted a set for checking wire gauges for ecig coils etc, and these calipers struggle a bit to get an accurate measurement with the smaller 0.17 mm or 0.15 mm wire gauges or lower. The calipers adjust in 0.01 increments so they should be capable of making these smaller measurements. They are rated to measure as low as 0.01mm too but they are possibly just a little bit too large for accuracy of such tiny measurements. I have since found some smaller pocket sized calipers that seem happier with measuring the smaller tolerances I require, but these calipers still definitely work well otherwise for other tasks. They seem well made, sturdy and are well finished. Recommended with 4 stars due to the accuracy issue with the smaller measurements.

only used it once to test it on a seat post as i will be using it for bike parts mainly..it was within 3 mm either side then third attempt it was spot on..was just me getting used to it..feels nice to hold and operate..a good weight and nice solid design.nice simple digital display,easy to read...and a power on/off button, takes a regular watch type battery which is easy to locate and replace when the time comes.also has a nice box to keep in...i'm no professional, but first impressions is for the price this is quite adequate for the every day joe...quite happy with this purchase

The actual measuring tool is good for the price but the two batteries received with the tool were leaking and rusty. I didn't fit these as didn't want to damage the tools contacts. I was sent a replacement and its batteries were exactly the same as the first units. I had to buy batterys to suit which Amazon paid for but wouldn't recommend due to this inconvenience.
