Vibrant colour, easy to use
Such a bright, stunning colour - I'm often complimented on my hair colour when it's recently been dyed with Olia 7:40. One pack is not enough for my thick hair, even after I've just had it cut to shoulder length, so I always buy two. But at this price, it's still way cheaper than getting a hairdresser to dye it, so I have no complaints about the price at all. The colour is vibrant, the product is easy to use, and it works very quickly. I have not had any issues at all with skin staining - with other brands in the past I've had coloured patches on my neck, face and forehead for a couple of days after dyeing my hair, but that never happens with this brand. The colour lasts a long time - it is permanent, though the vibrancy decreases a tiny bit with each wash. My natural hair colour is 'mouse' but this dye is so permanent, even when it's long-faded you can see the difference between my mousey roots and the dyed lengths. It fades to a soft peachy 'strawberry blonde' which I can live with quite happily.

It's a great product but two boxes required, end shade not as good as expected.
I like the product, it was easy to apply. I'm out of practice with hair dyes, having not used a home kit for quite a while, so I was quite impressed that I didn't drip dye everywhere when I applied it. Also, it was fabulous not to have the eye watering ammonia on my head for half an hour. Plus, there was very little skin staining (although I did apply Vaseline to the hot spots on my ears and forehead/hairline. Less positive was that I wasn't aware that I would need two boxes for my mid length and average thickness hair on the first application The results were really patchy along the lengths of my hair with some areas where I'd clearly not applied enough. I had to buy a second box and reapply it. I'd like to think that now I have the "base colour", I wouldn't need to top up my colour with two packs in future, but I don't know about that one until I try it. Also, the resultant colour is a very reddish shade of purple and really quite dark on my mid brown hair. It's taken the shade of my hair to a much darker brown and the purple is not overly noticeable without having full light on it. It kind of just looks a very, very dark brown in dark lighting. I think I expected something a little more vivid on my hair based on the box images. It's a nice colour, don't get me wrong, but it's not very close to expectations and darker than I wanted. I might or might not choose this shade again, but I think the product itself is very good. I really don't know why manufacturers can't make our lives easier and produce a larger product size for first time applications or longer, thicker hair, instead of us needing to buy two boxes to get the results! Anyway, I've bought a different brand with a different purple to try once this colour fades; I don't doubt I'll be less impressed with the ammonia though!

Suitable for me
I am using the product for the last 2 years. It is a very nice and gentle to your hear product. It is difficult to find this particular number on the shelves. Amazon is a great source for this purchase.

Easy to use, gentle on scalp, nice colour.
Very good colour, easy to use with no stinging. It's quite hard to find a hair colour you feel safe with. Price is ok, they're much the same in this niche. Prompt delivery so no complaints.

Not bad but there are some cons...
I wanted to write some of the pros and cons of this product so it helps others make an informed decision: Pros • It lifts darkest brown hair quite well given it doesn’t use bleach. I was impressed that my darkest brown hair was ever so slightly lighter and without a hue of red. • I had a balayage treatment done which, because of lockdown, I haven’t been able to tone. I applied this dye over the reddish/brassy highlights and it muted the tone fairly well. I wouldn’t say it removes the reddish/brassy tone entirely but it definitely mutes it and make it more of a golden brown which is a much more appealing colour. Cons • I found the substance quite difficult to apply and my hair would get easily tangled. I would advise using a comb when applying to ensure even application. Don’t massage it as per the instructions as hair gets tangled and actually I was worried about damaging my hair or having uneven coverage. Comb is gently through and take your time. • This notes 100% grey coverage but that’s not true at all. I would say 50% of greys were covered. I left the product on for 30 minutes and was wary to leave it on longer in case my hair got damaged. It would either need another dye session or to be left on longer. Overall Overall this is good value for money. And for a box dye it helped me feel a bit more “normal” given I don’t have a hair dresser. The main flaw is the grey coverage which was the main reason I bought this product. I would probably buy it again as my hair feels soft (not damaged at all) and maybe one more round could have 100% results. But I’ll wait a couple weeks before doing so.

Great Vibrant Colour For Dark Brunettes!
I wanted to try an ammonia free dye for brunette hair and since this colour looked lovely I decided to give this a go. Though the picture in the light might make my hair look a lot lighter brown, my hair is dark brown just like the darkest brown Swatch on the back of the box. My hair was also completely natural and undyed/unbleached for reference. When applying it, the dye was very runny which made is much easier than othe brands I've used to spread onto your hair. Although it didn't drip off my hair at all, be wary when it's in your hands because it's a lot runnier than you'd think! My only problem with the dye is eventually your hair gets incredibly stiff (but not dry), the to point I couldn't run my fingers through it. I would highly recommend using a very wide-toothed comb while you apply as that can get through the stiff hair easily. The smell was very faint and pleasant, great if you struggle with strong scents (especially if like myself you're migraine prone). It was a massive improvement compared to opening loads of windows and still choking like I have with other dyes! Just to be safe I always leave the dye on for about 1 hour, as I did this time, to make sure it gets into my hair as it's quite dark. Once I'd rinsed out the colour and dried it, it looked a lot more red than I had anticipated and was almost disappointed. As I had suspected though, the colour was extra intense because of how long I left it on for as when I did my first shampoo, the colour looked exactly as it did on the box, and overall beautiful! I also have to praise it's longevity as it has only now started to fade after 4 weeks, which is all the more brilliant considering I haven't used colour protect shampoo or conditioner to make it last longer, so if you were to use colour protecting products I imagine it would last much longer. Overall I would highly recommend, especially for natural brunettes that want visibly noticeable colouring in their hair without bleaching. Usually most colours only give my hair a coloured tint in the sun, but this dye actually coloured my hair and was visible in all lights.
