Works fine in the USA but you'll work a bit to get it working... It's region-locked to Singapore.
From the moment you open the app and see any mention of any country - you are in Singapore, where this fan is actually marketed. If you are reading this after attempting to create an account in some other country here's what you need to do... Changing regions with an existing account doesn't seem to work so you need to create another using another method. If you burned your Facebook account creating the original account, you'll use Google or Apple to create the new "singapore" account. Delete the app and restart your phone, then download the app again, then make a new account. You'll see an exact match in the app for the fan's model name once logged in under your new "singapore" account. Scanning the QR in the printed manual didn't result in getting it to pair, nor did scanning the QR on my laptop screen when I downloaded the PDF. But once I had my device connected to the fan's wifi it was able to connect to my home WiFi.There's even a plug adapter in the box that fits a US plug although the fit is a bit loose. No issue or risk running it on US power, this is really a battery device. So why hassle with a grey-import fan, what's so great about it? There's a Xiaomi integration for Home Assistant. You can (via the software) tell the fan to turn on, turn off, move a bit to the left, a bit to the right - and with a presence sensor (not included) attached to the top of the fan you can make it track you within the room.

Region locked
The app is locked out of the US so if you don’t live in Singapore then you’re buying an expensive Wi-Fi fan that can’t actually be used with Wi-Fi. I’m returning this.

Overall great fan
Great for the money. A lot of features and also powerful air flow. Other reviews mentioned region lock, which actually can be worked around by change the region to Singapore (in the Settings of the app). What I'm not so happy with:1. No physical remote control, which can be handy sometimes, especially for parents.2. No temperature or humidity sensor like some other Xiaomi model does, which makes it impossible to create smart scene for auto turning on/off the fan.
