I love this. Its heavy granite, very very heavy, solid, perfect for grinding anything down to a powder or paste with little effort. I use it all the time, at least a few times a week. Am sure I could find a few non kitchen uses for it too, its so heavy I used it to glue a drawer back together and this is the heaviest small item I have lol worked perfect. I love it so much I'm buying one as a gift this week. If it ever breaks I will definitely buy another of these ones if they are available although am not sure how I could break it, its so solid I think I would have to drop it from a very high building. Am sure it would make a huge dent in the ground. Anyway I love this its so so worth the money, the quality is amazing :)Update lol I bought this 2 years ago, still love this and use it all the time, bought one as a gift a year ago but I dunno if the person I got it for even uses it, might buy another one for my daughter soon though as shes moved into her own first home and I know it will get used. It really is an essential if you like cooking. I have lots of kitchen gadgets and stuff, this is one of my favorites and gets used frequently. Definitely recommend it.

Product is very high quality, and therefore is rather heavy. Won't slide around on countertop, but not suitable for weaker people. It comes with instructions for seasoning and care too, which is good to know. This is a great example of spending a little bit more to get a significantly better product. Would recommend.Only downside: I hope Amazon packages your purchase better than they did mine, but that's mostly luck of the draw, and nothing against the product.

This is a really well made product that I bought to replace one I dropped after years of regular use. This H&S pestle and mortar is BIG and heavy! It's about the size of a man's hand so it's great for grinding larger quantities of foodstuffs. The inner surface of the mortar is grooved to enable grinding to a fine powder, while the pestle is comfortable to hold in the hand. The heavy weight of the mortar might make it unwieldy for some people.
