It's fine on a patio or a surface that's reasonably flat and hard, but wouldn't leave it out there. It's a good product and remember it's 9 foot long.

What is the maximum width of the mat?

I no longer have, it but think the top end (by the 3 holes) was around 28-30" across

Can this product be used on grass in the Garden?

As long as grass is dry and reasonably flat then yes. There is a decent thick rubber coating on the back. We use ours on astro turf in the garden.
