BiMi New 5 x 50mm Office Chair Swivel Castors

I got an used office chair that needed the wheels replaced.I measured the old ones and then ordered these.Once they arrived, I installed them in under a minute.Now the chair feels like brand new and I can move it on a thick carpet much easier.

We have a K7 'luxury padded high back PU leather office chair with tilt & swivel' purchased January 2017, one of the castors failed and it worked out cheaper to buy this set of five and replace all of them at the same time (I've kept the four remaining good ones as a back up).I placed the order on Sunday, receiving the order on Wednesday via Royal Mail 48hr delivery.The castors are 'like for like' with the spindle dimensions 11mm diameter and 21mm length, the wheels are 50mm width outer edge to outer edge and 50mm diameter.Prior to fitting, I applied some Castrol LM grease to the swivel castor spindle to reduce wear on the metal surfaces, which also made it slightly easier to insert the castor into position onto the chair base.Admittedly they've only been on for a few hours but at this stage, I can not see anything negative in their operation.The two attached photographs to show new (L) vs old (R) and the size comparison.

I just needed to replace a single broken castor, and this did the job well. Buying five was cheaper per unit than buying a single castor (by far) so I now have enough left over to probably last me for ever. I assume these are designed to a universal set of dimensions as this fitted perfectly. Easy to fit. Quick delivery.

I couple of years ago, I bought a full BiMi replacement metal base (B00HVCUXRA) for a very comfortable chair, that had a 100% plastic-craptastic base that I broke (I'm not the smallest of folk).It was £35, but a bargain over my alternative choice of replacing the whole chair, and I was happy. That new metal spider was never going to break again.Then 2 years later, one of the plastic wheels that came with the metal base broke. Can't say I was "happy" - but then when I realized that for a fiver including shipping I could get a full set of exact replacements... well I was happy again. There are no shortage of replacement castors out there, but if they don't match your existing either they get more stress or your remaining ones will.Obviously I'd *like* to own office furniture that will outlast me, but back to reality must accept stuff will break from time to time, but I'm too cheap to pay for Herman Miller at home.OK, I've had to now accept my original £35 upgrade isn't going to make my chair immortal - but 50p a year seems a pretty acceptable maintenance cost.

Before you place an order it is important to measure the metal stem of original castor to check that the replacement is the correct size. These are 11 mm diameter, which seems to be the most common diameter, but some are 10 mm so do check. I was a little wary given some of the negative comments in these reviews but I needn't have worried. These replacement castors worked perfectly for me. The quality of the castors is at least as good as the originals which came with my chair. The price is reasonable, and I still have four spares left in case of future breakages. I ordered this on a next business day delivery using Amazon Prime and the package arrived as promised the following day (Saturday). Replacing the broken castor is very straightforward. Having already removed the broken castor to measure it, the replacement simply pushed in. It's not clear from the product pictures, but these castors come with a circlip already fitted to the stem so there was no need to try and re-use the circlip from the broken castor.

Can’t really get excited about a product like this. One of the castors had broken on our office chair and this restored it. Bear in mind there seems to be two standard gauges for the shank on these things so just make sure you get the right one. Delivery was prompt and whilst not cheap, it cost a lot less than it would to replace the chair.

Replaced the wheels on a kitchen trolley with these, which are much sturdier. So far so good.

At less than £5 for five castors these are a real bargain. Having broken two on my office chair these were easily slotted in with just a firm push in seconds. The chair was soon gliding around as easily as before and it's impossible to tell which are the two new castors and which the three old ones. At this low price I'd expect these to require replacement at some time in the future, but at less than a pound each I would expect to treat them like a consumable item anyway and not expect them to last forever. Sure, you can buy other makes at double the price which might last longer, but these are serviceable enough for a wide range of office chairs. Very good at the price point.
