U2 Fluval Filter
Fluval Filter for U2 has proved a valued asset to my tank and is the second one purchased.Does an excellent job filtering the water as well as air-rating the water.Quite easy to set-up and regularly change the filter pads, etc.The cost was a little high but it does the job!Delivery good.Would highly recommend this filter.

A good, steady filtration system
As someone who has owned fishtanks (tropical and marine) for most of their adult life, I have tried and tested many types of filters, from the old "undergravel" pump powered systems to the more common external filters. This purchase was to replace an external filter in my 180l tropical setup. I have finally given up on external filters. For their supposed benefits (less clutter in the tank, easier access for servicing etc) I have personally found them unreliable and when they go wrong they really do go wrong (airlock problems and pipe issues)I chose this item due to it being relatively compact, being a brand in the fish world, and its additional water circulation features. The beauty of an internal filter is in the setup - 10 minutes from reading the instructions through to it being operational and with minimal disruption to the fish. The unit looks okay - it is not too intrusive, but it is the water/air circulation which sets it apart from cheaper alternatives. The filter compartments are easy to access for cleaning. It is also very quiet running. Even after a few weeks of it being operational the water flow through the unit is still strong. Overall it is a good unit. The negatives. The actual filter media is very bespoke to the Unit. Personally I have always preferred being able to substitute manufacturers expensive filter media with cheaper options, the compact nature of this unit makes that difficult - so that is of course an additional expense in running this filter. But for a beginner, or indeed someone like me who has had enough of external filters leaking or not operating correctly, this provides a simple alternative at a decent price.

Perfect for around 15 gallons
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this filter for an tropical aquarium with a 14/15 gallon capacity. The dimensions of the aquarium is (h)30cm x (d)30cm x (w)60cm. I find that this filter is the perfect size for the aquarium with a strong flow that can be slowed down and enough filtering gallon per hour to deal with the waste in the aquarium. In this tank I have:- x1 platy (male)- x1 sword tail (male)- x1 betta (female)- x2 albino corydora- x5 neon tetra- 6 Assassin snails- Plants- A few Amazon sword- Floating Water wisteria- Quite a lot of Java fern on bog wood- About 1/6th of the aquarium has guppy grass covering the area- 3 Marimo moss ballsI find that with this set up I only need to do a 25% water change every 1 and a half weeks or longer and I still have water that is clear and to the correct parameters. The flow can be changed into five or more different directions depending on how you think about it and also features a venturi pipe to pull air bubbles into the waterI find I have the flow on the top outlet pointing downwards towards the bottom of the tank with the venturi pipe working. This provides the surface agitation needed for aerated water and the surface free from too much food debris. The whole unit is removable from the working pump to be able to clean the impeller which is essential.Offering 3 different filter types this is one of the best in-tank filters on the market.the pump pulls water down through two sponges on each side of the filter, through filter floss and filter carbon then through ceramic biological filtration and out.To clean the filter media the filter then leans forward off of the tank wall and you can remove the sponges in their plastic holders from the top.Pros- Venturi- Nice looking- 3 stage filtration- Gph- Fluval good brand- Different angle and direction outletCons- Can not have flow from more than one of the different options unless you modify it with a drill- Flow could be too much for a male betta but the three centre settings should be slow enoughNotes- I was originally going to get the u3 for the tank but it proved too big. This size really is the best internal filter you can get for its size.

Quality doesn't match price
Lasted 5 days before started rattling. As well don't believe it actually had described flow rate. Good design but quality don't match asked price as it come with broken lid hinge and the mainreason for returning was it starter rattling. It did keep the water clean however the water was clean before I put it in. For me returning is automatic 1*. Unfortunately I'm on square 1 looking for filter.

Great Filter, But Had to Return It
I recently purchased the Fluval U2 Underwater Aquarium Filter for my 110-litre tank, hoping it would be a good fit. While it's a fantastic filter, offering excellent water circulation and easy maintenance, it turned out to be too small for my setup. Unfortunately, I had to return it to Amazon, but not because it was faulty. My friend uses the same model, and I've seen it work perfectly in his tank. Fluval is a great brand, known for quality, and I would recommend this filter for smaller aquariums. It's reliable and efficient, just not the right size for my needs. Five stars for quality, though!

Doesn’t come with uk plug.
Annoying that it only comes with 2 pin plug- had to purchase an adapter before I could use it. I’ve been using Fluval flyers for years but this one doesn’t seem to work very well , wondering if it’s an import of some kind, definitely not usual quality.quite noisy as well.
