Cool Concept w. Good Display & Keyboard!
The concept of lapdocks like this have been around for a few years. By connecting a smartphone it transforms into a pseudo “laptop”. This is a cool concept, as it reduces redundancy (you don’t have to reinstall apps again on a separate device since the phone acts as the “guts”) and ensures future-proofing (i.e. upgrading to a newer phone means the “laptop” gets faster as well). So as smartphones become more powerful, I think this is a decent alternative to a regular laptop or Chromebook. What I liked:- Excellent build quality (it's made out of metal, aside from the palmrest). It didn’t flex or bend when pressing down and felt solid, despite being relatively light and slim.- Keyboard has a backlight mode which makes it easier to type in the dark! It felt comfortable to type on in my experience, with pretty good travel and feedback. Good enough for writing essays or emails.- Display is beautiful! It’s a FHD IPS panel, so arguably not the highest specs (it’s not OLED or 4K). However, it’s one of the better LCD screens I’ve seen, with vivid colors, comfortable viewing angles, and bright enough in most conditions. This was a great experience for watching videos and browsing the web. I liked the thin bezels, which made content feel immersive.- Touchscreen works great and felt responsive when I wanted to use it as a tablet. Although this model doesn’t support any pressure sensitive, active stylus pens.- Hinge felt stable and can fold 360 degrees, transforming it into tent and tablet modes. For example, if I wanted to use it as a regular monitor (without the keyboard) when connected to a laptop or Nintendo Switch, the tent mode was handy.- Trackpad felt okay and accessing the controls were easy (either via the touchscreen or function keys at the top row of the keyboard for adjusting volume, brightness, etc.)- Display turns off automatically when the lid is closed and then resumes when opened up (exactly the same as a normal laptop).- Battery life was good enough for roughly 5 hours of usage in my testing, which is decent. I like that it also charges the smartphone at the same time when using USB C. Even when used as a regular portable monitor, the battery makes it suitable for taking places away from the outlet.- Desktop modes on Android devices - such as Samsung DeX, worked flawlessly and were automatically recognized once the phone was plugged in.Areas for potential improvement:- Speaker quality is meh (not much bass); this can be improved with Bluetooth speakers or headphones.- This model currently has one USB C and one mini HDMI port for video input. Although I understand this is an ultra-slim design, in terms of functionality perhaps a full sized HDMI (or adding a second USB C for input) could make it even more versatile.- Like most lapdocks, the phone doesn’t actually “dock” into the device when you’re on in the go (there’s still a cable dangling off from the side). This can be fixed by attaching a pouch or magnetic stand on the lid yourself. However, it would be nice if this was integrated into the design. Note: there are models which support wireless connectivity, but also commands a higher cost (and introduces some latency).- For video conferencing, the lapdock doesn’t have a webcam, so you’ll have to use the one on the phone.- Not the fault of this lapdock, but it’s worth mentioning that for iOS users, it’ll essentially act as an external monitor (the keyboard and trackpad function won’t work). Thus, to get the most out of a device like this, you'll want a phone that has a desktop mode.Overall, I really like this device. It’s a big upgrade compared to the original Motorola Lapdock which first introduced me to this concept many years ago. In comparison, the screen here is larger and sharper, touch functionality is added, and the build quality is very good. It’s a solid lapdock overall.

Great for Dex Laptop
I bought this lapdock to be take full use of my S23 Ultra. Dex is an awesome feature that many people don't know about.Out of the Box, using the supplied USB-C cable it worked flawlessly. Just plug it in, dex popped up, and was able to use.Pros: - Overall build quality is good! Feels solid, with no flex when picked up, and solid Hinges. - 14.1" 1080p Touch screen display is amazing! - Keyboard is decent, up to quality of most laptops. - Battery life is great! Charging isn't quick, but last long enough to get through whatever you need to.Cons: - Speakers are there, but barely - Touchpad is usable if you have nothing else, but pretty bad. Recommend a bluetooth mouse and disable touchpadOverall would recommend. Not sure if Touchpad is so bad because of the hardware or Dex software. There are settings to change sensitivity, but doesn't seem to make a difference. I will be using a bluetooth mouse and disabling Touchpad. Speakers aren't great and I've been using either the speakers from my S23 Ultra or Galaxy Buds 2 instead. The Touchscreen makes this worth the cost. Screen is beautiful and has great viewing angles and hinges are sturdy enough to keep display up even with phone attached to it. This lapdock set up seems better than a portable monitor that has to be propped up.

Nice portable monitor with a build in keyboard
This is actually a really nice portable monitor. It includes all the cables needed for connecting it via HDMI to a console or PC.It also has a built in keyboard and track pad which worked so long as you can plug it in via USB to whatever device you plan to use.I set this up in just a few minutes by plugging it into a mini PC we have here and it worked perfectly. You can use the touch screen to adjust the monitor settings, connections etc. Overall for a 14.1 inch monitor it actually works decently well for gaming with good color and 1080p resolution.I'm happy with this purchase!

Nearly unusable trackpad
Build quality and features are nice, but unusable trackpad ruined it. Nearly impossible to control the cursor effectively when hooked up to a supported device. Large motions are fine, but fine motions like placing a cursor or resizing a window are almost impossible.

Almost good
The Good :The screen looks good. Touch works great. Brightness is decent. The keyboard is fine. Typing on it is as you would hope for. Not luxurious, but not bad.The Bad :The hinge and orientation sensor. The device does not stay closed. If you even look at the device wrong, the magnet that holds the dock closed will lose grip. If you move the device around a bit on your lap, you might just convince it you've put it in "tent" mode, despite not even halfway moved around to that orientation. The Abhorrent :The trackpad is a disaster. Devices do not see it as a trackpad, so you have ZERO control over very simple adjustments. (I've tested this on multiple samsung devices, with and without DeX , SteamOS, and also multiple windows 10 and windows 11 machines.)You cannot change scrolling direction. I hope you like "natural" reversed scrolling, you're stuck with it.You cannot change multi touch behavior. Three finger tapping prompts my phone to .. open up messages? why?You cannot click and drag. You can ONLY tap/drag. for the last 15 or so years touchpads have had a "thumb rejection" feature where you can click the bottom of the trackpad with your thumb and use your finger to drag your mouse around. this touchpad does not do that at all.Display : goodBattery : decent (though it doesn't charge power hungry devices)Keyboard : decent.Trackpad : absolute garbage.
