Demonic Fun!
What's better than a lamb? If you're answer was a demonic lamb who's sole purpose is to run a cult of devoted followers, then do I have the game for you.Cult of the Lamb may seem simple on the surface, and that's because it is. The story involves you, the titular lamb, and you're tasked with creating a cult in order to appease, and eventually free, the demonic entity who saved your life. The story may be simple, but it serves the themes and art-style of the game well. Speaking of the art-style, Cult of the Lamb is beautiful with it's 2-D almost crayon-like graphical style that's very easy on the eyes. The color pallet includes many reds and blacks, which serves the demonic tone of the game quite well. The music is also delightful, incorporating some very chirpy-choirs and very laid-back, catchy melodies that are both whimsical and haunting. My only issue with the music is the lack of it. I wish there was a bit more variety, as you'll be listening to the same three or so tracks for a good majority of the game. The gameplay of Cult of the Lamb definitely wears it's inspiration on it's sleeves, while doing a good job not being a direct rip-off. The game has two main gameplay-styles; The cult-building segment and the dungeon-crawling combat segments. In your cult, you can assign your cult members to different tasks around the fixed cult-area. This could be something simple like wood cutting or stone mining, or something a bit more complex later on in the game like tax collection or meal-prepping. Along with controlling your followers, you can place down various buildings that do different things. These include resource buildings like woodcutters, mines and farms, religious buildings like shrines, and tents and houses for your devoted cult members to sleep in.These are quite important, as if your cult members don't have anywhere to sleep, they can start an uprising. You can be kind to your followers, but you can also be cruel. Each comes with it's own advantages and disadvantages, so choose wisely. The other aspect of the game, that being the dungeon-crawling one, is also quite a bit of fun if not somewhat repetitive. There are four main areas to explore, each containing it's own unique environments and enemies (including bosses.) The gameplay is quite reminiscent of The Binding of Isaac's, where it's an isometric twin-stick shooter. There is a solid variety of weapons on display, which you find throughout your "crusade," and these weapon types can also have sub-types which van give you things like poison attacks or life-drain. You will also find cards in these crusades that can give you useful passive boosts, as well as trinkets that can be passive or active. The combat itself is quite satisfying, with meaty sound effects and dramatic pauses to give the combat a good feel, but it can be clunky at times. There was a number of instances where I swear my attack would grace the skull of an enemy, only for it to miss, and even more time where my dodge-roll felt like it didn't work as intended. These were few and far between, however, and overall the combat is fluid enough to keep it enjoyable throughout my 10 or so hours of play. There are some things about this game that tickle me the wrong way. The main issue is variety. Most of the time, throughout your time with the game, you are doing one of two thing within the gameplay loop. You go to your cult and take care of it, making sure your followers are happy (or not happy) by maintaining their food supply and fixing their beds, as your cult is still moving and thriving when you step into the dungeon, insuring you can't go crusading for too long. You can upgrade your cult to allow you go in for longer, but it's never going to really be self-sufficient. You go from that to the crusading portion of the game over and over until the credits roll, and while the combat is fun and works well most of the time, it is quite a repetitive loop that I found myself growing weary of by the time the credits rolled. With all of that being said, Cult of the Lamb is an incredibly fun resource management, hack-and-slash experience that gets my recommendation. The music is catchy, the gameplay is solid, and the graphics and visual-style are perfectly easy on the eyes and a great contrast to to dark-tone the game goes for.

Very fun
Cool dungeon crawler with domestic aspects to it. Very easy on low difficultys but it gets harder drastically as you go.

Fun game
Really enjoyable as a mix rogue-like and management game. My only wish is that you could interact with objects more easily and could interact with followers more. More character customization options would have been nice to instead of three minor options.
