Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up In the Air,” TV’s “Bates Motel”) and Patrick Wilson (the “Insidious” films), star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits. The film follows the phenomenal worldwide reception of Wan’s “The Conjuring,” which marked the largest opening ever for an original horror movie. The film went on to make more than $319 million worldwide and still remains the second highest grossing original horror movie of all time, second only to “The Exorcist.” Rounding out the cast are Frances O’Connor (TV’s “The Missing”) as the single mum, with Madison Wolfe (TV’s “Zoo”) and newcomers Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley and Benjamin Haigh as her children; Maria Doyle Kennedy (TV’s “Orphan Black”); Simon Delaney (TV’s “Roy”); Franka Potente (TV’s “The Bridge”); and Simon McBurney (“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”). In addition to directing the film, Wan wrote the screenplay with Carey Hayes & Chad Hayes, and David Leslie Johnson. Peter Safran, Wan and Rob Cowan, who previously collaborated on “The Conjuring,” are producing. Collaborating with Wan behind-the-scenes is Oscar-nominated director of photography Don Burgess (“Forrest Gump,” “42”). Reuniting with the director from “The Conjuring” are production designer Julie Berghoff, editor Kirk Morri, costume designer Kristin Burke, and composer Joseph Bishara. Review: Worth a Look At - Marvelous pick up from the first movie that had me glued to the chair waiting for the next thing to happen which doesn't take long so hang on to the furniture that wont move as this will have you on the edge of your seat. Plenty of jumps that this family will never forget seen as the Enfield haunting know as most documented that shocked the world. A single mother with four children living in a house that is a living hell with no help except a married couple who only knows to well. The cast are fantastic storyline is fabulous with suspnse thrown at you from the beginning to the very end so I rated this an A grade plus as now it's your turn to relax and see for yourself with feet up and only a handful of munchies so not make to much mess over the loungeroom floor and have to pick it all up. Marvelous entertainment that will surprise you and you won't be sorry. Enjoy! Review: A powerhouse of fright and suspense. - The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 are some of the best horror movies made in recent years, and a big part of that, for me, is down to Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Two wonderful actors who share a sparkling chemistry and bring quality to whatever they do. There are strong stories here, too, of course. Yes, The Conjuring 2 borrows from a real life haunting, but the director and writers do a great job of expanding on it. The cinematography, the closed set of the house, the angles used, are all brilliant. And the main child actor is truly excellent (you'd never guess she was American born and bred). As a package, it's a powerhouse of fright and suspense. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this film
I really enjoyed this film. I felt the 'feel' of 70's England was captured very well, and the haunted house is undeniably creepy despite its position in a completely ordinary street (perhaps that is what makes it so unnerving?). My one gripe is that I cannot believe the events really played out like this in real life, particularly so the second half of the film; but, hey, this is a Hollywood take on events after all. So if you are looking for a well-acted, eerie, occasionally downright frightening chiller set in Britain then this is for you. Congratulations to all involved for producing what I felt was a genuinely good ghost/ horror film.

Yet another warning not to use Ouija boards
*Spoilers* This movie is based on the famous Enfield Poltergeist from the 70's and when I say based I mean loosely. People involved are included but some things are exaggerated and others just made up - there was, as far as I'm aware, no crooked man or demon nun in the original haunting for instance. So, yes it has been Hollywooded but that's a good thing. After the conjuring I watched this movie to see more of the Warrens fighting demonic entities and if they'd been faithful to the original case that would not have happened, as there was none, and it would have been pretty tame in comparison to the movie we got. The demon nun is a genius addition and very creepy. I would consider this movie more in your face with its shocks. And the twist brought in about Bill the poltergeist being used by the demon is brilliant and, while predictable, still gave that "ooh" moment. The banishing of the demon was really lame. Mrs Warren named it and told it to leave and because names have power, it did. It was a little anti-climatic after the excellent build up they gave it. I would say I like this movie more than the first Conjuring which is saying a lot because I loved the first movie. The story is fun and in parts really creepy. The acting, especially by the child playing Janet, the focus of the haunting, is brilliant. I get apprehensive when children are the lead in horror movies because if they're bad it ruins the whole film. No problems there. This was some of the strongest acting I've seen and I was very pleased. There are probably moments when you are going to roll your eyes and say "oh please" because it seems rushed or lame but that happens only a few times (the ending being my main one) and in no way affects my enjoyment of the film. I got this DVD and proceeded to watch it 3 times in a row - it was that enjoyable. Every time I watched it I found something new to enjoy. You don't need to have watched the first film to enjoy this, it stands alone and really makes me hope there's a third Conjuring of this standard.

very good
Well worth the wait this a new look on an old and very intresting true event that happened here in England some time ago to a real family ok a lot of bits in the film is where poetic licence has been taken but that's understandable if they showed the events as they actually happened at the time it would get a little boring perhaps intresting notwitstanding but nothing new to anyone familiar with the case if you wanted that then I would suggest watching the three part drama that was the Enfield potergiest that was on TV sometime ago. If on the other hand you wish to watch the film that will make you sit up and take notice and to give you the scares that you wish for then this is it.

go ahead and watch
Based on a 'true story'. Well, I didn't believe the 'true story ' then and I don't believe it now---even given the Hollywood treatment. Nevertheless, I had a little look--- it was bearable. I always like Patrick Wilson in his various horror ventures and Vera Farmiga too and as Ed and Lorraine Warren they are very believable BUT i can't remember them becoming involved here!!!! Yes, ok you have to have a story but it does become a little amusing after a while and a little boring and hadn't this just been filmed in The Exorcist? One thing I will say though, the era seems to have been caught well.---dull dark and damp!! I'm afraid my leanings are towards the other lady in the film who declared 'she's faking it!!!' However once again I will say DO NOT MESS WITH OUIJA BOARDS they are not fun but very dangerous.

I love the Conjuring series. I ordered the Conjuring 2 specifically for the Blu-ray and digital copy. The only problem was that the digital redeem code expired 12/31/2019 and it's only redeemable in the United Kingdom???? This is the United States...wtf???
