easy to install, took me just 15 min, looks good. So now the insurance company is satisfied. Whilst it is clearly solidly constructed, with a durable finish, I don't think it would deter a thief much, as the lock is much stronger than the wood it is attached to. Nevertheless, it is an extra obstacle for a thief to overcome.

This does exactly what it says it will, secures a window, easy to install, very effective and I'll buy them again on other windows we have. A must buy if you want to improve your window security.

Simple lock

OK, but be careful...
It's ok, but a word of warning; do not over-tighten this lock. Whereas the construction is sturdy, the thread of the bolt that you tighten with the supplied key, is not. The lock is made of metal, but I suspect the threaded insert for the bolt is either not deep enough, or made of aluminium, so wears very quickly if you over-tighten. What's the yardstick for over-tightening? Difficult to say, but it's definitely giving it that extra lightly tighten that has worn away the thread on my old one, to the point where it didn't seem to be biting and needed another little tighten and then - having worn out the thread - wouldn't bite at all!I've given it three stars as it's OK, (and about the only one on the market!) but I'm being extra careful with its replacement.

Colour looked artificial (not brass)
Came in a horrible fake gold colour. Bought some from elsewhere in the end which were a better brass colour.
