Spiral lamps
Philips spiral lamps are good value because they l last for years. In particular I use them over the stairs. It is important that stairs are well illuminated, especially if there are children or older people in the house who use them and might trip or fall. Of course it takes time to replace light bulbs over stairs with a ladder!

Very bright, seems up to spec in that, but perhaps a bit cooler than 2700K.
Very bright. Doesn't achieve max brightness instantly of course, but I don't see a problem with that. I give 4 stars because it seems a bit cooler in color than my other warm white bulbs. It might be because it is new and very bright and it just looks to me that way, so maybe I'll revisit this review if I think it is not the case after using it for a while (or if something else happens to it!).

The light is bright
I love it because it is so much brighter in my living room. Earlier I had 13 watts bulb and it was not enough, but now that I have a bulb 20W it is so much better. The light is white, but not exhausting, it feels like daylight and I feel better in the evenings. I will definitely buy another one to my bedroom. As regards longevity, I cannot say much because it has been only a week that I got this bulb. Actually, Philips it is a great company and I own lots of things from it, such as the hair straightener, the electric shaver, the electric toothbrush, etc. I did not have any problems with them!

Bright and strong
Great product. Warm bright light. Bought for my parents who were skepticle of the brightness. But once fitted they commented that they were even better than their normal bulbs brightness wise. No delay turning on though a very slight delay turning from a yellow to a more natural yellow light, but we are talking seconds.None broke in my hand as other commenters said, I was careful to hold not the light bulb tubing but instead the base that is strong.

THESE BULBS CONTAIN MERCURY! DO NOT BUY THEM!
Call me an idiot, but I did not realise that these types of bulbs contained MERCURY!!! These are extremely fragile and one accidentally broke when I took it out of the packing. I suspect it had been cracked during shipping. In the blurb, they state that they contain "small amounts of mercury", but it doesn't matter if it is "small amounts"! These are extremely dangerous and no amount of mercury should ever be allowed anywhere near our homes!! Particularly if you have small children.. Please look at the instructions below that they advise if one of these bulbs breaks. If, like me, you think you are doing the "right thing" by changing to energy saving bulbs, then think again!!! DO NOT BUY THESE TYPES OF BULBS. Mercury is TOXIC to the central and peripheral nervous system and inhalation of mercury can cause serious health issues to the immune system and obviously the lungs! My biggest worry is that not all homes even dispose of batteries correctly, so there is no chance that people are going to follow correct procedure for disposing of these bulbs! I will never buy them again."Compact fluorescent lamps contain small amounts of mercury. Collect the fragments carefully with a moistened paper towel, scooping up the pieces with a sheet of stiff paper. Don't use a vacuum, as this would distribute more particles around the room. Avoid contact with skin and ventilate the room for 20-30 minutes. Wrap the pieces and disposable cleaning materials in an airtight container, e.g. in a glass jar, and discard them at your local recycling centre".
