Easy to install and VERY TOUGH
This key safe ticks all the boxes: the combination lock is precise (i.e. no 'loose feel' to aid pickers) and has a useful weatherproof cover that, when closed, makes it look innocent like an electrical junction box. The best thing, though, is how tough it is - you'll be surprised by just how heavy it is when the package arrives. The small box weighs at least a kilo, very strong metal and the locking nubs are about 5mm in diameter each side.Basically, it's tough enough for nobody to bother with - it'd be less trouble kicking down most front doors. Another useful factor is the ease of installation - a metal plate acts as a "guide" to mark out the drill holes (all you need is a masonry drill and probably some plastic screw sockets to seat them properly). The metal plate then goes inside the safe, adding to its strength. Finally, it's a good size inside. Big enough for long keys, keyrings, and chunky electronic car ones, even unfolded. So no problem storing spare sets of everything in there. Overall, an excellent little product at a killer price (I paid £23.99.)

Very sturdy and seems very secure
This key safe is not going to be used outdoors, it is ironically going to be used to keep my other safe keys safe. The key safe is weighty and when fixed to the wall it is immovable, it appears to be solid with the tumblers moving with no issues.Easy to recode - takes less than a minute. The safe is locked when you get it, when you remove the packaging the number is on the rear of the key safe - just cut the plastic ties an remove the solid plastic packaging and you will find it.Use the steel template that is inside the key safe to mark the holes on the wall - it took me less than 20 minutes to get it up and clear up after myself. All in all I would recommend this key safe. As for being waterproof - I have no idea and hopefully I wont find out if it is as its installed inside the property.

Not much room for keys!
Considering that this is a key safe, there is not much room for keys. I fitted the safe to my front door. Not difficult but care needs to be taken to ensure that you drill the holes correctly and in line. The enclosed screws are virtually useless and I would consider them insecure against any serious attempt to remove the safe by force. I needed to additionally purchase four suitable 5mm. threaded bolts, nuts and washers in order to make a secure job (please note that I was fixing to a door and not to masonry). I was pleased with the result though. The other problem with the safe is it's capacity. I needed for it to contain two normal sized keys (on a small key tag) and a small chub key (also on a small key tag). They barely fitted into the safe with sufficient space to close the door without it fouling the keys. This needed a bit of key 'wiggle' to enable the door to close properly. Although the operation of the safe is excellent when using the key pad to insert the correct code, I have to say that using a suitable phone (e.g. iPhone) to open it is somewhat hit and miss! Some tines it does it straight away and other (annoying) times it takes forever and is really annoying!Having said all this, on balance I think that the key safe has really good features and I feel that is very secure. Just don't expect to put many keys in it though!!!

The best I've seen
Many key safes are functional but, if you really value security, aren't really up to it. I'm not saying the YouTube videos about easily bypassing the combination applies to all devices, but I have seen it done and that's enough to be a worry. The Master Lock is a massive step up in terms of build quality, and offers a lot more in the way of reassurance that it won't give up its secrets easily. It is satisfyingly weighty, and the combination keys feel very solid. Changing the combination is a simple affair, and the drop down cover adds a lot of weather protection.Because of the weight, I used lightning masonry bolts to fix it to the wall, and it is genuinely going nowhere. I'm more than happy with paying just a bit more for a lot of extra key safe.I have just one criticism, it's the lack of a key hook inside. You'd think putting one in would be a no brainer, but so few manufacturers actually do so. But that doesn't take away from just how good the Master Lock is.

Solidly built - but appearances can be deceptive!
This is an impressive, heavy chunk of metal. It would take some serious work with a hammer and chisel to crack this safe open using brute force. That gave me great confidence to start planning where to install it to keep our house keys in. However, before I even started to unpack it I went online and found a YouTube video showing how to crack the code of this exact key safe in less than 30 seconds. It's a piece of cake and you can bet any house-breaker would have your keys out of this safe and be inside your front door before you could say "Bob's your uncle"!The solid appearance of this key safe inspires a high degree of confidence which the product doesn't deserve, so really it's worse than useless, hence 1* only. I returned this item (which was easy and painless to do - thanks Amazon!)Btw, ANY lock that uses combination wheels like this can be opened without the code very easily. If you doubt this, take a look online.
