Educational !
Ideal gift. Beautifully boxed. Looks really expensive when packed in its boxed. The purple is a lovely colour. My six year old loves this. The leap pad itself is very educational. There are some free games on it. You can take photos with it but the resolution is not so great. The item is very easy to use and is strong enough and hard wearing.

Great iPad especially for younger children
I bought this for my grandaughter's 5th Birthday. She loves it and managed to operate it fairly quickly with some guidance. In particular it was helpful that there was verbal instruction as well as words on the screen which allowed her to use it independently sooner. In this respect useful for younger children who cannot yet read. Educational as well as fun and more sturdy than an normal iPad.

Great 1st Tablet
This is a present for our 4 year old daughter, she uses the I-pad but we wanted her to have her own for games and learning. She has not yet used it but it seems easy to use, setting up was easy peasy and easy to download games. Don't buy the actual cartridges unless you are sharing them between consoles as they are cheaper to down load on the leappad and you won't ever lose the cartridge. It seems durable, quite heavy..we ordered a gel skin too for extra protection. We purchased for a bargain £45 when it was on offer - I would probably pay full price based on what I've seen so far...will update if any different! The ONLY negative is the American voice on the menu.

great
My 3 year old loves her leappad, lots of educational games to teach her about numbers and alphabet and to watch videos too. Games can be a bit expensive, you get free apps the the leappad, and when we first bought it I bought her a few games as they have offers on, those games have lasted so far and haven't needed to buy anything else, keeps her busy.

Disappointed that it didn't work as I'd hoped because my ...
Leapfrog Platinum doesn't hold a charge after less than 6 months light use. Leapfrog support says it's up to amazon to handle this, amazon says return for full refund. Disappointed that it didn't work as I'd hoped because my daughter LOVES it and she's very careful with it.

Excellent product and excellent customer service from Amazon.
My daughter absolutely loves hers. Only thing is she had it a day and screen kept going off. Got in touch with Amazon and they have been brill. Sending a replacement aswell as the download cards I brought. Excellent service from Amazon again. Can't wait for her new one to arrive so she can play and learn again.

Great age appropriate learning tool.
My 3 yr old received this for her birthday. She loves playing it and I love how the games start on her level and do not advance until she has mastered the easy levels. She is learning by playing and that is one of my favorite things about this! It is not just an app for my phone with no purpose. The battery life has been great for us. We had some issues with it shutting down, but after a quick phone call to Leap Frog we got it up and running again. Customer Service was helpful and efficient. It is great to find games in the store that are age appropriate. My daughter loves the games it came with and for now, even the demo games are enough to hold her interest.

Fantastic System for younger kids, overall great electronic device!
This tablet is a great first experience for young kids. The device isn't too big for my four year old to hold with two hands. The stylus is nice and reaches the entire screen very well. The games are easy to put in and take out with help from mommy or daddy every time. Battery life is OK, and you will get a few hours out of each charge. This isn't a big issue with me as I don't let my kids zone out on video games for more than an hour MAX. The game selection is pretty good. I would recommend this to anyone looking for games for their young children. Just a quick note as well, there aren't "Apps" on this system like the iPhone or android, so there is no Youtube, Pandora, etc...

Great learning tablet for 4 year old.
Got this as a flash deal on Cyber Monday. My 4 year old, who had previously been using a regular tablet with downloaded apps, absolutely love it. A wide variety of educational apps to choose from, all of which are appropriate for children. Easy to customize, and she loves using the stylus to practice letter writing, etc. Definitely kid friendly, she can play with it totally independently and maneuver without any assistance, unlike a regular tablet. If you can purchase this item on sale, it is definitely worth the money. Also, the stylus wound up falling apart after about 2 weeks of use. I contacted Leapfrog, and they immediately sent me a replacement stylus free of charge, no questions asked. Excellent customer service. Overall, I highly recommend this product for a four year old.

Beats The Pants of the Ultra
This review is going to be pretty short and sweet, as everything I have to say has already been said. We purchased this as a replacement for a Leap Pad Ultra. While the Ultra was a great product, we were pretty disappointed by the speed... so were my kids. We mostly used them for little TVs because gaming was tough on them; the lag was infuriatingly bad. My 5 year old had to be coaxed to use his Ultra instead of my iPad. So when one of our Ultras bit the dust thanks to a shattered screen (Don't ask. 2 year olds are capable of anything.) we kind of struggled with the decision to upgrade or move to a different system because not many reviews gave the bottom line of "Do it!" or "Don't bother!" Well... Mom, Dad, and the 5 year old agree... If you're annoyed by the slower Ultra.... "DO IT!" The processor upgrade is significant and my kid keeps telling me "Mom, it's so fast!" He won't put it down unless I make him. He figured out the Imagicard game in nothing flat; and is in love. My only dislikes are that the wifi is still slow and the hard drive is still only 8Gigs... My son had a hard time picking and choosing which games and videos he wanted. It seems that the onboard software leaves less room for downloads, as everything fit on his old Ultra. Its MUCH easier to use the Connect software and manage the games through the computer than through the wifi.
