Wilton Dessert Decorator Plus, Cake Decorating Tool, 28 x 5 cm diam (11 x 2 in dia), 4 tips included

I'm a novice cake maker and really wanted to take things a step further without embarrassing myself too much with the decorating side of things. I read all the reviews on here and this item seemed to be the one which best suited my proficiency. So with the help of Mary Berry's book I got to work and made her fairy cakes. So far so good. Then unpacking this little beauty was a bit scary, but I do recommend you read the item instructions. So with the fairy cakes, I used the long nozzle and filled the cakes with seedless strawberry jam and then using the star nozzle, decorated them with butter icing. Ok, so perfection comes with practise, but for a first attempt my family were pleased at being my guinea pigs, but tbh, I'd give it 5 stars just for the fun factor. Just to create and decorate something from the ordinary was very rewarding, simple to do and fun...my family are very pleased that I'm so easily pleased. It all worked exactly as it said it would and I'm now looking forward to trying out the other nozzles on other recipes.

My 12 year old daughter loves making cup cakes but she cannot use the traditional piping bags as her coordination in her hands is not 100% perfect which is why we decided on this product. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it. My daughter can now finally make cupcakes!! Because it is made of plastic It is much easier to clean than a piping bag. The piping bag never really felt clean after washing it but we have used the Decorator Plus many times and it's as good as new. To fill the Decorator Plus, we found it easier to place it into a tall glass, so you have your hands free for transferring the icing into the tube. To transfer the icing we used a tea spoon with a very long handle as obviously the opening is not as wide as a piping bag and the long spoon enables you to push the mixture down. We only need to fill it twice to make 12 cupcakes. I have just brought a cake pop maker for my daughter and will use the Decorator Plus to put the mixture into the maker.

I'm a beginner. I've struggled with piping bags. I can never seem to fill them properly. Then they splurge 🙄. This is much easier to fill I found. I like the fact too, that further down the line if I wish, I can buy more nozzles separately too. There are more parts (obviously) than a piping bag. So it is a bit faffier to clean by hand. However, I just chuck it in the dishwasher and it's fine. There is also slightly more waste of buttercream than would be with a piping bag. But it's not a lot more. Warning: Do not screw the coupler on too tight or it will split a little 🙈. A few more nozzles to come with it would have been good. But, for the price I'm very happy. In fact, I ended up buying one for the mother in law too 😊.

Good product, swiftly delivered, just be aware that the icing nozzles are a little delicate, treat them with care and take them off the gun after use. Made meringues with it and they looked pretty good, good purchase, pretty pleased. I bought a metal one a few months ago online and it broke straightaway this is actually quite sturdy.

First up, I didn't get this for cake decoration so I'm not using it that way. The idea for me was to fill glasses with home made desserts that chill in the fridge - cheesecakes made with cream for example. The mixture has to be stiff so filling this device isn't all that easy. Cleaning is OK but not great. I noticed a chip out of it after a few uses. It hadn't been dropped and didn't arrive that way so I can only assume it has been done in the utensil drawer or while cleaning it. In other words, it's not that robust.

Don’t waste your money connector broke in half after 3 uses and now item useless

I’m fairly new to decorating and found this tool so helpful. There’s lots of piping nozzles so you can make loads of designs. One issue was every now and again the icing would pop out and ruin the pattern, easily fixable with a knife though. Think how easy it is to clean depends on the icing you use as I used a chocolate butter cream which I struggled to get out of the tube, could be the cream rather than the product itself though. I definitely recommend this, it’s so much easier than a piping bag!

I wasn’t expecting much for the price of this but thought it was worth a go as I’ve tried to pipe icing on to cupcakes before with no luck. This is excellent! Easy to use and the results were great. Look at the photo on the front of the box to see how to hold as there’s no instructions in the box 🧁

In summary, the Wilton Dessert Decorator is amazing. You can now say good-bye to messy pastry bags and tips. At under $10, this is such a bargain! I also love that you can use it not only for desserts, but for deviled eggs as well. The Decorator not only decorates the tops of cupcakes, but also has an injector tip so you can inject filling inside cupcakes. After testing it out on a batch of chocolate cupcakes, my five-year-old son said, "Wow! Those look like the cupcakes from the bakery." And he was right. I am not a particular excellent cupcake decorator and most of the time my creative culinary efforts turn into Pinterest-fails. It is incredible to find an affordable tool that makes it so easy. The Decorator is BPA-free and so easy to use and clean-up. The directions were simple and assembly took about a minute. With the variety of included tips, you can create ribbons, leaves, roses and so much more. The plunger really pushes the frosting down the tub, making for no waste and easy clean-up. A few tips: You might find you need more than one can of frosting to frost a batch of cupcakes, as the Decorator will create fluffier frosting creations than using a knife. I would also recommend putting the frosting in the Decorator tube when it is room temp /slightly liquefied, and then refrigerate it while the cake bakes to get to right frosting consistency. This makes it easier to get in the tube. I also found a very narrow rubber spatula worked fine as well. I love this product and I will be using it exclusively for cakes, cupcakes and deviled eggs from now on.

Produto de qualidade inferior, dois meses que comprei e já está quebrando a parte que é de rosquear. Já tive outros da mesma marca e duraram mais de 5 anos. Infelizmente a qualidade caiu significativamente.

This is better than the usual cake decorator, being far more solidly constructed and quite a bit larger than the generic cheap made-in-China ones which are frustrating to use because the small size makes it both difficult to get icing in and requires frequent refilling. One reviewer pointed out that the trigger only moves the plunger about halfway down, this only happens if you do it when it's empty, once it's filled with icing the trigger moves the plunger all the way down.
