Since both my phone and laptop have USB-C ports, I thought it was about time I updated my card reader to one that supports this standard. Therefore, I ordered this one because it looked like it would be strong enough to withstand being bumped around a little (in pockets etc.) When it arrived, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the device. The body seems to be made of metal and the cap which protects the USB-C plug is a good fit - I'm pretty certain it's not going to fall off any time soon. In use, although I haven't measured the read and write speeds, it performs operations very quickly and I would have no reservations about recommending this reader to anyone.

Maybe I am somewhat sad for enthusing about this but there you go. I was looking for something I could use to transfer photos from cards onto a 1TB SSD I have. Without having to take a laptop with me. I wondered if this could read from a card and write to the SSD connected via USB (whilst connected to phone via USB-C). Another reviewer said it works so I took a punt. It works great. Both the card and the SSD show up in the Samsung Android File Manager and you can easily move or copy files. So well happy. Not massively speedy (about 25MB/s) but yet to do tests as to bottleneck, probably read speed of the micro-sd i tried.

Top notch build quality, solid high quality metal all around. features a full size usb, big sd card slot and a slightly redundant micro sd card slot (would've loved to see a different type of card slot there such as sony memory stick). this works wonderfully with my xperia xz2, couldn't ask for much more for the money.

Works fine on my phone but not on my tablet (which I think is the tablet's fault, not this device's). Handy for viewing photos taken on a camera when away from home. However it's not tiny and so is a bit bulky when attached to a phone, and being a rigid aluminium case attached directly to the plug makes it feel as though a drop or knock could be disastrous for the phone due to the leverage it would exert on the USB-C port. Also note that only one of the SD card slot and Micro SD slot can be used at one time so you can't copy from SD to Micro SD or vice versa. However you can copy to/from USB and one of the SD slots. With those limitations in mind, it works well.

The KiWiBiRD works well with my Macbook Pro which only has USB-C type slots. I've used it to transfer photos from my SD and micro SD cards without any issue. The adapter is well built and I have no doubt it will last for a while. The KiWiBird has the added avantage in that it has a female USB connecter allowing you to plug in USB devices as well. All in all very happy with my purchase.

As a creator its hard sometimes to always remember what is needed. This allows me to clear my phone out without running out of space. I can use it whilst travelling either on my laptop or phone. Safe and very fast to use. Versatile as I can transfer from one device to another hassle free

This is a lifesaver. after buying my new MacBook Pro I was horrified to find they literally have no connections but usb C! ! thankfully I found this and all my problems are sorted in one small stick. I can use usb, sd and micro sd. everything that I was missing is solved in this one product. it has been working great with no problems at all. I can even use both sd and usb at the same time!

Absolutely perfect! really useful little adapter and works perfectly every time. good quality and well packaged and easy to use. Definitely would recommend to anyone wishing to use micro usb etc.
