Provides confidence.
I got this stick to give a bit of security and confidence when walking on holiday,It is more robust than many others and is height adjustable making it comfortable to use but still unobtrusive when folded down.Highly recommended.

Small light and compact - just the job for my elderly father
Purchased for my 83 year old father who wanted a compact foldable walking stick he can chuck in his bag for when he needs it on his travels. This was much cheaper than others he looked at in town that do exactly the same job, and has fitted his criteria perfectly for a fraction of the price (just over £3 when the ones he was looking at were around £20!).He's been very please with it - small and light enough to take with him everywhere and have available in case he does need to use it. For the price it's hard to fault it in any way.

Does its job well for the price - but the foot definitely isn't "non-slip"
Not too much to say about this item: it folds easily/neatly and send fairly sturdy (I'm not overweight and fairly average height, so it's fine for me), but I'd simply like to highlight that the plastic cap that makes contact with the floor is just that, plastic. Ideally, I would be made of rubber. As is, if you use it on a hard surface - like a hard floor inside a large office building - you might find this is suddenly a whole lot less sturdy. I almost fell over the first time I used it on a polished office floor. Forewarned is forearmed; now I'm careful how I distribute my weight when walking on a shiny floor. There's (thankfully) no such issue when being used on pavements, though, again, when it's raining, a rubber foot would provide better grip. I'm also slightly worried about how long the foot will last. Being hard plastic, I'm resigned to it eventually cracking/splitting or simply wearing away. Before that happens I might try to use an old bike tyre to create a nice, grippy contact patch!

Good short term or as a spare
The one I received was a bit clicky-clacky. And then I got a ferrule off a popular auction website with no metal in it and that decreased the noise by 50% but still a bit clicky-clacky. The handle is rather thin and so hurts my hand if I use it for too long. Those are the negatives. But it does its job and, 3 weeks later, the shock-cord hasn't broken. So I would say it's a very good buy if you just want a cheap back-up or if you think you only need it for a short time (for an injury that will fix itself in a few weeks). If you need a cane full-time and long-term you should probably go to a shop and get the best one that fits. If you need one short-term, or a back-up, or just need a first cane to see if it is for you (and then trade up) then this is pretty good.

It has made my life a lot easier
I used to walk with a wooden stick, but it was always a struggle to keep things together when shopping, or travelling, when you need everything with you. This folding walking stick is great, and when you don't need it for a short period (for example, you are in a tight seat on the bus), you can just fold it up, and stick it in your hand bag (averaged size hand bag), or shopping bag.The material is sturdy enough for me to lean on it. I have been using this stick for several months now, and it has made my life a lot easier.

Brilliant! I am very pleased with this sturdy little stick. I have used this constantly for about a month and it has been invaluable as a support / brace to help me climb up to 10 sets of stairs every day. I did purchase some rubber ferrules and replaced the one provided as the rubber is silent. These are easy and quick to collapse but I did worry about street bacteria transferring to my bag - a small square of foam rubber or sponge with a slit cut in the centre of one side provides a quick "pocket" to place over the end and keeps the bugs contained and not spreading throughout my bag. The sponge cube can easily be washed.

Good stick, dodgy ferrule
This is a very handy device if you're fed-up with constantly dealing with a full-length walking stick (eg on a bus or aeroplane). I had been concerned that it might not be very sturdy, but it is - and I'm a big, heavy chap. I have total confidence in it. I use the elastic wrist strap to bind it up when folded.I have knocked off one star because of the ferrule. It's probably OK on soft ground but on anything moderately smooth it's dodgy. However, it can be modified thus: with a bit of huffing and puffing, sawing and cutting, I got it off. That leaves a hollow aluminium tube which is too sharp-edged to put a decent ferrule on (it would cut through in no time). You could look in your workshop for a washer of the right size, but I couldn't find one so I cut a disc from a wine-bottle cork and used that as padding. I pushed the cork disc into a soft rubber ferrule and pushed it on in place of the original ferrule. My ferrules are 19mm diameter which is a fraction too big for this stick, so I wound a few coils of sellotape on the shaft which was enough to grip it firmly. Job done - but a shame the manufacturers couldn't do it. But it's worth doing it as the collapsible stick is a god-send.
