My daughter asked me to read this straight after she'd read it. She thinks it's hilarious. I'm glad she laughs at Beatrice's mistakes. It's the first step to realising is not the end of the world when she makes mistakes. Even if your child isn't a perfectionist this story seems to play well to children. It's a good size book with interesting and relevant colour illustrations. The pages have a lot to talk about, besides the words. The subject allowed me to ask - what would you do? How do you think she felt? Why was that funny? And so on. I like it.

Lovely message for any age
I am a real perfectionist and my 5 year old boy seems to have taken on this trait, I'm trying to encourage him to take more risks and loosen up a bit! I read it first by myself and it brought me to tears. The story is simple but fantastic, we have now read it a few times together and he often mentions it. The message of the story is clear - it's ok to make mistakes, it's what makes us human...and have a laugh while you're at it!

Funny with a positive message
My boys love this book. It's quite funny and easy to read, but also great for teaching kids that losing / messing up isn't the end of the world. Lovely edition and illustrations too.

Great for the Young Reader
this is a good quality, well illustrated book and would make an ideal gift for a young child. I quickly read the story before realising this (I had intended ist for a pre-teen) and it also struck me that the point of it (i.e. it's ok to make mistakes) didn't really come through well enough considering he age-range it is aimed at. But this is only my personal opinion, others may not agree, particularly as I was so far off its intended audience.

It’s ok but probably better stories out there that address this topic
Bought this for a little girl who has this problem to help her recognise this trait in herself. Wasn’t keen on the story though - could have been a better example.

Great for back to school activities!
Lovely story and illustrations; used for upper KS2 to help introduce Growth Mindset - the children loved the story and were able to identify with the characters.

The book tries to teach kids that it is ok to fail and make mistakes and be silly. It’s good if you your kids is afraid to try new things

I did not like the story because it let children with the idea that being silly is the same as making mistakes. I consider it a superficial book, it only helps with the introduction of the theme.

I got this book for my daughter, and we both absolutely loved it. The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes tells the story of Beatrice, a little girl who’s known for always doing everything perfectly until she finally makes a mistake in front of everyone and realizes it’s completely okay. It’s such a simple but powerful message, especially for kids who put a lot of pressure on themselves. The writing is funny and engaging, and it really held my daughter’s attention. The illustrations are colorful and full of expression we found ourselves pointing out the little details on every page. After reading it, we had a great conversation about how everyone makes mistakes and that it’s how we learn and grow. I think this book is perfect for ages 4–8, especially for kids who tend to get frustrated when things don’t go perfectly the first time. It’s also a great resource for teachers or parents who want to talk about growth mindset or resilience in a gentle, relatable way. Pros: • Positive message about embracing mistakes • Bright, fun illustrations that kids love • Great conversation starter for emotional growth • Perfect for home or classroom reading Cons: • A bit short — my daughter wanted more! Overall, this is a sweet, uplifting story with an important lesson. It’s one of those books kids enjoy and parents appreciate. Definitely one we’ll be keeping on the bookshelf for years to come.
