Useful fashion book
I found this book interesting but not quite what I expected. It seemed to be based on other people’s ideas and opinions on what fashion should be. Some were designers, who gave their fashion tips. There were some good ideas and useful tips, however, these were people who had a lot more money to spend on clothes and shoes than I do. Nevertheless, it’s well laid out and nicely illustrated.

Small, compact read with a holistic approach, just a shame about the font size
Just received this book a few days ago and looking forward to reading it having read Alyson's previous book.I think there is a fundamental flaw in this book and that is the typeface font size. Ugh! It is sooo small I am struggling to read the text. This is somewhat ironic as her blog is aimed at women over forty. This text is also newspaper style and is printed in columns. This is real shame as it's impacting on my enjoyment of the book.Beyond the layout etc it is an enjoyable read, and consistent with Alyson's previous book there are lovely illustratrations, rather than photographs.Alyson has spent a considerable amount of time seeking out people who have a a wealth of experience in the fashion industry and they give an insight as to their approach but do not mistake it for a 'What not to Wear' book. This is not prescriptive and is more about style and at a more fundamental and reflective level. It is more an ideas book based on how other dress and their motivation for doing so.Alyson also touches on why some garments have become icons. The book is very compact and would fit easily into a handbag for those that commute and would be a worthy read for those that would like some direction on the art of wearing and combining clothes.

Get your Specs!
I have one serious criticism i.e. the print is miniscule with a massive white surround. I required both my specs and a magnifier. The day after I read it, I attended a Dinner and my shoulder, from having to angle in order to read it, was stiff and awkward, raising comments - I lied about the cause! Obviously, as we age, our eyesight weakens yet my 14 year old granddaughter, with perfect vison, had a problem. However, I loved the content and illustrations and felt I was in the company of the contributors = full marks.

Not as good as her first book
Not as good as Alyson's first book which is best I have ever read on fashion but enjoyed reading it just the same.

Makes you want to buy and adorn
I haven't finished reading this, as experienced in a couple of careers I didn't find this book that helpful but certainly written to encourage outfit inspiration. The only problem I had with this book was it's slightly negative reference to Barbara Cartland in the initial pages, when she is/was good or bad it is not nice to hurt anyone knowingly so publicly.

Good condition
Book is in very good (new) condition, and is as described. The content is a bit repetitive, and most of the comments on dressing are a bit obvious if you think about it ...
