This the forth Varilight dimmer switch that we have fitted. Easy to fit and works weel to make a bedroom that much smarter.

Excellent dimming capability (down to the tiniest glow—suitable for a children's night-light with a tungsten bulb). The light's delayed reaction to the control (owing to the trailing edge dimming control) takes a little getting used to... but it is this that allows the use of LED bulbs—just make sure that your LEDs are the dimmable version!Sadly, the learning function (whereby it should be operable via any existing remote control that you may have) is practically useless. I have tried two different units and both fail to pair with any of 12 different remote controls that I have tried—in one case the light refused to switch off via the remote control, then about 3 hours after having been switched-off manually it automatically switched itself back on again! So you will have to factor-in spending another £6-7 for the dedicated unit—or simply control it via the touch contact.

Save your money and don't buy these.I bought this item together with a slave. An electrician has just spent 2 hours trying to get them working, checked the wiring thoroughly and came to the conclusion that there was something fundamentally wrong with one or both of the switches as they did nothing at all when installed together. Then he switched one of my existing LED dimmers with the master switch and immediately noticed a problem. It doesn't turn the lights off (not the only person to have discovered this). It dims them down to a point where they are barely visible but they do not turn off. Badly made junk. I shall be returning both units and will not buy anything with the varilight name again.

I bought this as a replacement unit , with the one I had , which had parted company (at the back on the panel) . Very pleased with it , especially with the remote control .

Purchased one of these along with a remote for our cinema room. Very fiddly to use, only a 60% success rate with finger taps for off and on, and about 25% success rate with the remote. Got so frustrated with it after a few months I’m switching to a smart dimmer instead. I wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.

I'm using this on a chandelier with 5 dimmable candle LED bulbs (4W each). Good dimming range, but very non linear, tried different settings. When holding to adjust the brightness, the bulbs go very quickly from max brightness to min brightness making it hard to select an intermediate value. Another small issue is the substantial delay of about 1 second from off to on when tapping. Finally, I couldn't have it recognize any of my remotes, so I bought the varilight one which worked well but it's quite clunky with 8 buttons of which I only use one.
