Quite possibly the smoothest and quietest magnetic resistance bike on the market. Precision engineered to ROHS standards. Anti-slip base with adjustable front feet for enhanced stability. Ideal for use at home or work. Tones glutes, quadriceps and calves as well as burning significant calories whilst seated (216 calories per hour for a 138lb female pedalling at 5.5 mph, increasing to 336 at 9 mph. This compares to 56 calories per hour seated!) Traditional exercise bikes use brake pads or belts to add resistance resulting in noise, jerky pedal motion and the need for routine maintenance. A magnetic resistance exercise bike provides smooth quiet pedal motion, without the use of tension belts, chains or pads. Tension is created using a magnet close to an aluminum flywheel, via the resistance knob. The magnet never touches the surface of the fly wheel, so there is no jerking while pedaling, no noisy apparatus, and no belts to change to increase resistance. Pedal top out height of 15" so for under desk use could be worth checking sufficient height exists for the upward movement of your knees. An alternate work based option may be the Office Fitness Pedal Exerciser with a top-out height of 10.5 inches Comes with 1 year warranty and full returns cover

robust and suitable for more mature user
I've waited a few months before reviewing this, and the first thing to say is it is still in one piece and still being used. So straight away it's an improvement on other pieces of home exercise equipment I've bought over the years. So far it has proved itself to be durable, nothing has broken or fallen off. The robust construction does mean it is quite heavy, and some folk (eg with back problems) might want to be cautious about how they lift if off the floor. The good news for me has been that when pedalling it with the feet it hasn't aggravated my dodgy knees. In fact I think I have had less knee pain since I've been using it though this might be coincidental. Using it with hands on the pedals initially caused quite painful stiffness in the neck and shoulders so I'm careful not to overdo using it like this - and I had to experiment to find a comfortable position which for me involves sitting on the floor rather than having the thing on a table or similar - I realise this wouldn't suit everyone. The resistance is adjustable but I find that when using it with my feet I don't notice a great difference, although it is more noticeable when using hands. A person who is younger or fitter than me would probably find this equipment doesn't offer enough of a challenge, but for the more mature person looking to take gentle exercise at home I would say this piece of kit is worth a try.

Great piece of kit
I love this gizmo. I'm too lazy and or tired to leave the house after work and spend most of my time gaming / watching movies after the perpetually tiring grind of the nine to five. I am now cycling for an hour+ most days whilst doing these previously lazy activities, and I am feeling a lot more energetic for it.I am a hiker and like to think I am quite fit, so I can say with some certainty that the resistance levels on offer are more than adequate. Unfortunately I can't take it to work and exercise on the job, but if you are lucky enough to have your own office - or the ability to set a healthy precedent in the horror that is the open plan workspace - then this would be a great way to keep those doughnuts in the kitchen from expanding your waste.EnjoyTom

Be sure to buy magnetic
I did previously own a cheaper version from Lidl which wasn't magnetic and used a friction resistance. At best it created a pile of dust(from the friction)and zero resistence. Put simply- it didn't work and was a waste of money. This on the otherhand has a magnetic mechanism similar to that of the exercise bike variety. It has a smooth action and actually has a good range of resistance, to the point that I find it challenging. I'm very pleased I've purchased it. It costs £20 more than the Lidl version so it's not that expensive all things considering. Just to add I've got my model vice gripped to the top of an exercise bike, so I'm exercising all my limbs simultaneously, now thats a workout that would challenge an expensive gym and at a fraction of a membership cost. Also note, if you look on other sites in the USA, a model similar to this will set you back $160, its a no brainer...

Good value!
I purchased these because I did not feel that I was getting enough resistance from the original ones I had These are sturdily built and provide a good workout for my legs. I find it hard to exercise as I have had a stroke and am unable to to stand by myself, so these have enabled me to exercise whilst sitting, so I have been able to keep more active..

Love it!
I bought this mini bike to strength my legs after some emergency surgery that left me very weak. I was able to set the resistance to very low to start with and increase it as my strength increased.I love the fact that as it says it's super quiet. I usually do my exercises while watching tv (makes time go quicker).I can see myself to continue to use it in the future (even after I'm fully recovered) just as a way of exercising, mainly in the evenings after coming back from work in the winter when you don't feel like going outside. It's a great way of exercising your legs

Office fitness mini bike magnetic resistance
This mini bike is very convient to use as an exercise tool as it can be used while watching tv etc and takes up very little space as opposed to a full exercise bike. Pedals have a very smooth motion. It can sometimes slide a little on wooden or tiled floors but this can be stopped by putting it against a wall or piece of furniture. If you then find your chair is sliding, sitting on a high stool works well as you are sitting above the pedals and not pushing them away from you. I loved this item so much I ordered a second one for my mother. She is using it a lot.

Usefulness is limited.
The resistance is inadequate for any kind of muscle development and the control panel doesn't fit properly onto the stem. I used it during the period of convalesence when all that was needed is movement of the knee without any force. That's all this item is good for.

This is a very quiet and good exercise bike
This is a very quiet and good exercise bike, the reasons that I have given it only 3 stars is because the tension control just don't work that well and it does move around a lot in use. I weigh the device down with a pair of Dumbbells which does the trick.
