“I feel that we’re on the brink of something. It is going to be strict and wild and pretty.” — Prince, 1986 More than any other release in his four-decade-long recording career, Prince's iconic double album Sign O' The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention. Primarily recorded between the end of 1985 and beginning of 1987, the era saw the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the end of his engagement to Susannah Melvoin, and the creation (and ultimate abandonment) of the albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball. By the end of that period of transformation, Prince emerged with one of his most urgent and wide-ranging releases to date — an epochal double album that would be hailed as a creative, critical, and commercial triumph. Remastered 2 CD album.

A Must-Listen
Prince is/was the Mozart of our time, and this is his Magnum Opus. It may not contain all of the "super-hits" of Purple Rain, but it demonstrates his diversity as a musician, recording artist and song-writer in a way that Purple Rain cannot. Prince is truly the greatest, and this is a must-listen. For those who are looking for the "hit," there's "U Got the Look," and it's awesome.

Love Prince. Love SOTT.
I don't really have anything more to say than what I said in the headline. SOTT is one of Prince's best albums, IMO. I love it and listen to it constantly, in rotation with "Emancipation," also one of my favorites. As I recall, this CD was shipped quickly and arrived in good shape. Nothing else to say except, "Peace, and be wild."

Damn glad I finally gave in A Sign O The Times
I had been trying to find the DVD for Sign O The Times for a handful of years after seeing it on HBO or Showtime the winter of 2020 enthralled by the overall performances by not just Prince but, also, the 3 stunning visual additions of Sheena Easton, Sheila E, and especially the main girl in the hot white, 2 piece outfit with the dancing frills on her sleeves whose name—I have too admit—I can’t figure out on my vinyl acknowledgments: I think she’s Carol D? If not Cat Glover(?) who is not listed on vinyl credits, anywhere…Anyways, thought she gave a great performance so I took a pic of her that appears with the vinyl purchase.See pic?!😘 Damn she’s cute to put it mildly (and politely)😇I was in high school when Purple Rain was a huge hit, saw the movie at the drive-in my senior year on a double date and I have had the thought in my head a couple times or so over the passing decades that the Sign O The Times soundtrack was probably better than Purple Rain (Purple Rain IS overall a better movie to watch). But, I am very pleased I did decide to purchase the vinyl (an ‘Amazon choice’) not bothered at all, now, that Little Red Corvette is not here. The popular favorites are (here): the title song with the powerful anti-drug lyrics; and the mother too poor to feed the kids while we ‘Send People too the moon’Sheena Easton and U Got The Look. And I thoroughly enjoy Prince and his silly, fun songwriting lyrics (with Susannah) on Starfish and Coffee/Cynthia wore the prettiest dress/with different color socks/I wondered if the mates were in the luncheon/Lucy and me opened it when Cynthia wasn’t around/Lucy cried, I almost died/know what we found?/starfish and coffee/maple syrup and jam/butterscotch clouds, a tangerine/and a side order of hamOf course that last ‘ham’ rhyme reminds me of something straight out of Dr Seuss. Worthy of a smile upon impact. The song It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night was recorded Live from Paris with Sheila E on percussion—and doin a rap thing—is incredible to say the least. The horns by Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss are surprisingly unique and clean as well as a great addition to the Prince musical personality that followed Purple Rain and, certainly, deserves the same amount of praise— if not more so.I’m assuming it’s Prince playing some fine piano, co written by Leeds, It’s Gonna Be Beautiful Night is the main, star studded jewel amongst a gem of a vinyl album right down to the cover art and the lyrics to all songs on my extra record-cover-sleeves.Sign O The Times about as close to a perfect purchase as could be expected.28$ and the song Adore a small drop in perfection.4.9 stars

The King of Soul is PRINCE!
One of his most interesting sounding records due to his pitch shifting his vocals to a higher range to give an almost cartoonish voice to the King of Soul, this also spawned a concert movie, which is truly one of the best you will ever see, if you can find it to see!!!
