Outlives and Outperforms Standard Air Filters
I purchased a K & N filter for my 2001 GMC Sierra when it was new. I still own the GMC and it has the original K & N filter. It cleans better than a standard paper filter and can last up to 100,000 between cleanings/recharges. The filter is constructed in a way that produces a more laminar airflow to improve engine performance. Mass airflow senors receive airflow that's less turbulent, which stabilizes the signal to the engine's computer that determines fuel and air ratios for proper combustion. The special oil coating on the filter helps trap more dirt without restricting airflow for many many miles. I recently purchased this one for my new Honda. I'm getting the expected results. It will likely be the last filter I'll buy. This has been my experience and these are my opinions. I highly recommend K & N air filters.

Had mine for 9 years without problems
Figured I’d finally write a review for this thing. Bought this in 2013 for my 2012 Civic. It was $36 dollars at the time. I see it’s over $50 now. Car still runs great in 2022 with 188k miles on it. It’s a little bit annoying to clean the filter and wait for it to dry before reinstalling. So I guess it saved a little money over the long run. Paper filters would have cost me roughly $250 over 9 years. It’s a minor long term investment. No problems with the MAF sensor. No noticeable performance or gas mileage differences. Car has never needed any repair other than basic maintenance (fluids, filters, belts, hoses, etc).

Great air-filter for a great price.
I recently went to my mechanic for a service and was told that my air filter needs to be changed soon but didn't have a filter in stock. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise, I found this great k&n filter on amazon for same or lesser price than what I would pay for any other and it is a lifetime replacement product!! And i installed it myself (very easy). Have seen some improvement in power (very minor but noticeable) but no improvement in mileage as of now. I'm happy with this.

Does what it needs to, filters gunk. I ...
Does what it needs to, filters gunk. I have noticed that there is oil build up from the filter at the throttle body though along with carbon build up, no biggy, grab a clean rag and wipe it down. Improved my gas mileage from 41.2 to 41.4mpg on average, but that could also be a change in habbit of driving.if you're driving in higher elevation, it might be that extra kick you need to go uphill (roughly an extra 0.6hp) Is it worth it? Only if you that extra scrubbing of the throttle body is worth it.

A simple upgrade
K&N filters have built a solid reputation among performance car enthusiasts over the years, but they are also a highly viable option for everyday drivers—especially if your car's factory air filter box is awkward to reach and you prefer handling your own servicing. By swapping out a standard paper filter for a K&N, you essentially eliminate the need for frequent replacements. However, it is important to remember that these are not entirely "fit-and-forget" components. They still require maintenance at around the 50,000-mile mark. Cleaning them is a multi-step process that involves spraying on a specialised solvent, washing it out, letting it dry completely, and then carefully re-oiling the fabric. It is definitely not as simple as a quick rinse under the tap. From a financial standpoint, the upgrade offers a different perspective depending on your timeline. The official cleaning and recharging kits currently cost around £14.00, which is roughly the same price as a single brand-new disposable paper filter. When you combine that ongoing maintenance cost with the higher initial purchase price of the K&N filter itself, you are unlikely to save much money over a five-year ownership period, if you save anything at all. However, because a single K&N filter will last longer than 10 disposable filters, it becomes a money saver over a longer timeline, helping you avoid up to £100 to £200 in replacement costs over 10 years. This long-term durability is backed by an ultimate longevity 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty that protects the filter for the life of your vehicle. It is also an eco-friendly choice, as using a washable, reusable product significantly reduces replacement waste in landfills. When it comes to performance, the engineering behind the filter is impressive, featuring state-of-the-art filtration media that provides up to 50% more airflow than disposable paper filters to increase power and acceleration. This is particularly notable given that clogged or dirty air filters can reduce your vehicle’s acceleration by up to 10%. Despite these specs, you are still highly unlikely to see much measurable performance or fuel economy benefits in a regular road car. In reality, the only physical change you are likely to notice behind the wheel is a slightly deeper, more pronounced engine noise whenever you accelerate heavily. Even so, it offers incredibly easy installation since it comes pre-oiled and ready to drop right into your factory air box, making it one of the easiest and most cost-effective upgrades for quick performance gains i the right car. Ultimately, deciding whether a K&N filter is worth the extra cost over a regular paper filter comes down to personal preference. For most everyday drivers looking for a massive speed boost, the answer is probably no. However, for those who appreciate the convenience of long-term servicing intervals, it remains a tempting upgrade. There is a distinct, mostly psychological benefit to knowing your engine can "breathe" a little easier, combined with the peace of mind of not having to think about the filter for at least five years. Unless you own a high-powered vehicle, K&N buys you convenience and long-term durability rather than raw performance, but for many DIY mechanics, that convenience is well worth it.

Updated review after changing the spark plugs & Installing the K& N filter !!!! Awesome is one word
Updated review : I did give up on the filter untill i changed my Spark plugs recently and simply retried the K&N The performance os really good now !!!! old review : initial thought: Will update the review after 6 months but as of now it is a good replacement for OEM filters Updated review after 3 months of use on a honda civic 9th gen : The throttle response kept degrading. I swapped the K&N with my old dusty genuine Honda air filter and to my surprise, my throttle response is way better now. I'm going to get a genuine air filter. will never ever try aftermarket air filters.
