Excellent Barbecue Coals lighter - fast, efficient and safe.
This is a very efficient way to light bbq charcoals as long as you have access to a mains socket (a battery-powered version is also available but this does come at a substantially higher price - I purchased the mains-powered version). in a matter of minutes, your bbq coals will be lit and 10 minutes later, they will be ready for cooking. In operation, you really do just point the unit at the centre of the coals and in 60 seconds you will see the coals sparking up and lighting. I do have also have a bbq chimney and this is a useful alternative to using the chimney. Two additional points - the unit is slighter bigger than I originally anticipated but this not a problem. Also, the unit comes with a very handy built-in stand to allow the unit to be put down safely whilst cooling after use. I would advise extreme caution after use, do allow the Looftlighter to cool properly before storing but the looftlighter does cool very quickly, even the 'business end' does not stay hot for long. All in all, an excellent purchase and this will be added to my list of 'things that I wished I had bought much earlier'!

Makes lighting the BBQ effortless — heats up insanely fast
I picked up the Looftlighter for my BBQ setup, and it’s honestly one of those tools you don’t realise you needed until you use it. It blasts out superheated air and gets charcoal going in seconds — no messing around with firelighters, no waiting, no faff. You point it, hold it there, and suddenly you’ve got a roaring fire. It’s become part of my BBQ routine now because it just makes everything quicker and easier. Especially when you’re cooking often, having something that gets you up to temperature fast is a game‑changer. It’s powerful, simple to use, and feels solid in the hand. If you want a reliable way to light your BBQ without the hassle, this thing has been brilliant for me.

An awesome bit of kit
I use this in my komado. Two of three little twister lighters and use this to get hem going building up restaurant grade lump wood around each one. Allows me to build the heat up efficiently and quickly (but slowly enough not to damage the komado. It really is a case of plug it in, point and go. The cable is pretty long, I’d say a good couple of metres. This will sound stupid, but it does get hot at the business end so you’ll need somewhere for it to cool.

Great, but second one has now died after 2 years ... See UPDATE
Fantastic device - light the BBQ without fuel or fire lighters; relight a flagging BBQ or get one going ... amazing! BUT this is the second one I've had in 4 years, and I don't do more than a BBQ every couple of weeks through the summer :( Not sure I'll buy another - poor. UPDATE: On the off chance, I contacted the manufacturer, and logged a support ticket; my replacement Looftlighter arrived today! So many thanks to Looftlighter service.

Does what I bought it for (if not what it was made for!)
I was a bit dubious to begin with as it can achieve a maximum temperature of 600degC and I wanted to use it to light my solid-fuel boiler, which runs on anthracite (ignition point 600degC!). The boiler maker's instructions tell you to use firelighters...a complete waste of time, and I have, up to now, relied on a butane torch to do this - smelly, expensive, inconvenient, and always running out of gas just when you need it. Thankfully, Looftlighter proved capable of bringing it up to temperature, albeit after a longer wait than I had hoped for - because the strong spring loading in the switch can make your thumb ache within a short period. Pity it doesn't have a switch lock for this kind of application, but I can understand the safety restrictions. Anyway, it's a lot more convenient than using a butane torch for the same job. Looking forward to summer when it can get put to use on the barbecue!

No more cold spots
Best thing we bought for our log burner, aim it where the fire draws up, before you light the fire and it clears the cold spots. No more smoke coming back in the room. Bloody brilliant.

Great product, wrong plug
Arrived and it seems to work great, but required purchase of EU adapter as was not supplied fitted with a UK plug.

Clears Cold Spots in my Chimney in 1 minute
I saw a YouTube video of someone using one of these to clear cold spots prior to lighting a fire in a wood burner to prevent smoke blow back. I was sceptical however, it's been an absolute game changer. I have a very tall chimney so in extreme cold, it was always difficult getting the fire going, smoke blowback was awful, stinking the house out so I thought I'd give this a try. Hold it inside the burner aiming up for around 1 minute then light the fire lighters and away it goes, no more smoke filled room! :)

Incredible product
I own a Pit Boss 24" kamado grill and let me tell you, the Looftlighter is an incredible product. It gets your charcoal burning as fast as advertised, saving you a ton of time compared to using a charcoal chimney or building a pile and lighting some fire starters underneath. I was looking for an alternative to those cheap fire starter cubes after I noticed they created thick smoke with a strong waxy scent to my kamado grill. I definitely don't want to inhale that or taste it in my food, which is when I decided to try the Looftlighter. This product is certainly a game changer for charcoal grillers. It may be expensive, however, in the long-run I think it will be worth every penny. It's an efficient, more natural way to get your charcoal started, and you won't have to keep running back to your local BBQ store to buy more fire starters. If you're serious about grilling and can afford to spend a little extra on one of these you won't regret it after your first cook.
