Surprisingly good quality
I’ve never left a review on Amazon before, but felt that I really should in this instance. This machine is very good quality. We’re building a small extension that requires a steel frame, and I was daunted by the prospect of hand drilling holes to join wood to the steel. However, this drill made it incredibly easy. I bought the Evolution bits as well and they were superb. The included chuck meant I could also use my own HSS bits too. The magnet is very powerful and the overall feel of the machine is one of solid build and is perfect for my needs. Excellent bit of kit.

Good value for money
This is a great tool and has saved me a lot of time and effort already. I did not use the coolant feed tube or container as i was often working the drill in a horizontal plane and just applied coolant directly to the surface to be drilled. There is an adjustment which allows you to raise the drilling head and use the included chuck with longer drill bits etc. This needs to be tight or else the drill head, when being wound down into the work will just sit on the surface and not penetrate, due to the slippage. Other than this, I found it to be a good tool. Only single speed, but fine for the holes i was drilling. The blow moulded case is useful for storage. All allen keys which are needed were included. the magnet works well on good iron. It will not grip reliably on rusted material. It was able to hold, to drill vertically on lighter angle and box sections too.

Cuts steel like a hot knife through butter
Makes drilling holes in RSJ steels an absolute breeze. Had some steel beams for an extension delivered with holes in the wrong places. Could spend a couple of hundred quid paying someone to come and drill them, or the same on the drill, so... Takes less than 30s to cut a 14mm hole through 10mm thick steel. One bit did 14 holes and the last was just as quick and clean as the first. Didn't use the integrated oil system as couldn't get the oil quickly, but a can of WD-40 cutting oil did the job nicely. Everyone on site was impressed; its a quality piece of kit.

Ever had a problem with drilling large holes in steel using ordinary twist drills? Read on...
I've always found that drilling holes in steel any larger than about 10mm using ordinary twist drill bits causes the drill bit to jam in the hole as it begins break through despite adopting the usual method of incrementing the size of the hole in stages and using the correct cutting speeds etc. Enter the EVOMAG 42! After much research on the net to find a cost-effective solution to this problem, I bought this product purely on recommendations and looking at YouTube reviews; always a risky business but in this instance I can report my absolute satisfaction with this product. You can use twist drill bits but it excels when it is used with the matching Evolution cutters which you have to buy separately. Setting up the machine was straightforward using the clear instructions. My first job was to drill a series of 20mm holes in 5mm steel plate. Given all my previous difficulties using twist drills, I couldn't believe how quickly and smoothly this drill performed its job. It appears to have been designed for steel erectors/fabricators because it incorporates a powerful magentic base which allows you to position it on any vertical or horizontal steel surface. This doesn't make it ideal for driling relatively small gauge steel stock such 25mm angle iron for example and my next project will be to fabricate a base for this product to allow such stock to be securely positioned and clamped unless I can find something already commercially available. If you haven't the budget or space for a milling machine (which would be one alternative), buy this product, you won't be disappointed.

Makes some tough jobs easy
Used for drilling large steel beams from underneath and from the sides. Turns a tough and unpleasant job into a very satisfying one - abeit the drill is fairly heavy to get into place. Not great for using in confined spaces but will often largely replace pillar drilling even in the workshop for large pieces of steel. Used along with the Evolution hollow broaching cutters which are also excellent. The lubrication system isn’t up to much and really just gets in the way. Been using a paste instead which does the job fine.

broke after 7th use
cast aluminium part broke just after around 50 holes that i made in total, did not abuse it or anything, bought to make fixture welding table. based on the picture you can see that it was defective cast. also evolution warranty is nonexistant not just my opinion but heard also from others, once you contact them they gonna tell you to buy another one and will wish you best of luck next time. motor is good though just the rest is garbage.

Attention prise us. J'ai acheté une prise us/fr marche parfaitement.
