Enjoyable, interesting characters
Saw the TV adaption advertised but have not watched it, but this is how I found this book. Enjoyed the characters who are both quirky. Enjoyed the sub-plot with Leon's brother Richie and how important he is to Leon and the whole story. Not so keen on the hospice details as it seemed to be mixing up palliative care and oncology which are two different areas. Also children and adult hospices are almost always separate, as far as I know. Although I did love the character of Holly.I liked Tiffy's character & dress sense. But don't think her friends would have let her stay at Justin's as long as they did after they split up. Liked the observation (I think it was by Richie) that Kay wouldn't recognise Tiffy as attractive because she is nothing like Kay. She was a very miserable, controlling woman and Leon was well rid of her!I liked the way the author used a very different style when writing Leon's point if view.Overall enjoyable and different.. might watch TV adaptation now!

I liked the easiness of the book. No major taxing subjects, just light reading, without the heavy subjects. Worth a read.

I would recommend this cute and sweet story to anyone who likes a light, rom-com type read.
I wonder if any readers are on social media who haven't heard of The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary? I recently picked up a copy of a few of Beth O'Leary's books after seeing them so much on socials, and this one was my first and was fantastic.Tiffy and Leon share a flat and a bed but have never met, it seems like an excellent idea for young people to do when money is tight, and they aren't using the flat much. Leon works nightshifts, so he is only in the flat during the day, and Tiffy works the day shift, so she is only in the apartment at night; it's the perfect fit for them. We know where this is going from the outset, but it is a romance novel, not unexpected. The unfolding is where the beauty lies, and in this case, it's a lovely story.Tiffy has a lovely backstory and is a loveable character. She is a little quirky (as you would probably expect from this arrangement!), and she is full of genuine emotions and feelings. Tiffy is relatable, and despite all of the above, she is still vulnerable and weak in some ways.Leon is just lovely. They leave each other sweet little notes about mundane things like leftover food and the bins, but this helps build their relationship. He is quiet, and his backstory is touching, showing his underlying emotions and heart. The Flatshare is a light read but also full of emotions. It deals with some serious issues surrounding relationships. Still, it's done well and sensitively, appropriately for a light read. I also enjoyed the ending, al very cute and sweet and perfect for the characters.I found the writing good, filled with plenty of funny moments and witty dialogue between the characters.I would recommend this cute and sweet story to anyone who likes a light, rom-com type read.
