This book covers just about everything you need as a beginning graphic designer. Don't let the publication date scare you off, the simple truths presented in this book stand the test of time. If you are looking for a book on technology, look elsewhere. However if you want a book that will teach you a solid foundation in graphic design principles that will work throughout any medium, look no further.

A great help! Now, after I have read it, I have a clear picture in my mind about art elements.

Helpful in my 2D design class. Good explanations and history and filled with exemplary examples. Not so much a "how-to" book, but more of a "principles behind the ideas" book.

Very cool book, lots of very useful info and examples

After learning that an older version of this book would be acceptable for the class I took, I was able to save a considerable amount of money by purchasing this version that had not become outdated.
