'Love + Other Lies' is an amazing story that had me hooked from beginning to end. Its a second chance/ best friends brother/ mafia romance, with oodles of chemistry, yearning, regrets, secrets and an excellent plot that engaged and entertained me completely.I loved the characters of Van and Isla, they were really well drawn, relatable and I was rooting for them all the way. This story really pulled me in. I found the romance absolutely intoxicating to read, this couple had real chemistry, amidst a backdrop of smoke and mirrors, and unravelling secrets. The story was non-linear, and made the unfolding narrative more gripping and compelling for me.I absolutely love reading books by this author, and I can say this is another amazing read from her. Well done Ms Alam. I absolutely loved it.This is a complete standalone story, but is part of a series of books. You do not need to read any other book to enjoy this one.

Donna Alam has long been a one click no brainier for me. I love her books and her style of writing. But this time she outdid herself. Donna is the queen of banter and Love + Other Lies does not disappoint. Quite the contrary, right from the get go, I was laughing at the quips, loving the characters. Isla and Niko are perfect in their love, even if their journey to happily ever after is long and rocky. Niko’s unending devotion makes him my favourite Donna Alam hero so far. Fall in love with him and Isla, and her two delightful sons. There is nothing in this book not to love. I’d happily reread it already.

Just love Donna Alan’s work. She writes of castles in Scotland, men who will dress in kilts when needed to and lots and lots of hot sexy times. Second chance story here, and comforting reading that women who are past 40 and have had children, can still catch and keep their man. Well worth a read. I have bought all 3 books in this series so off to read Before Him now.

He knows what he wants but his dark side won't let him for years. She's a divorcee with 2 kids who refuses to give into her desires. Written with passion, humour and a fair amount of insinuated violence this is a brilliant book suitable for all lovers of excellent romance and original storylines. Hot stuff DA thank you. 💕💘 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 💋❤

Loved the story line and characters didn't want it to end also fab 8 hrs rather than 3 hrs for most books these days

Well, this read was some thing different. The mafia side was gripping, and the kids kept it humorous. When they all went on honeymoon there were some laugh out loud moments, sandwiched between all the mafia business.An enjoyable read.

From start to finish I couldn't put this book down. My eyes are sore, i’m hungry but it had to be done !Donna Alam gives us another wondrous book to read.I love, love, loved the story of Isla and Niko. Twists, turns, years pass but love wins in the end.A book with enough spice and tears to get you going, some real laugh out loud parts to enjoy too and a warm conclusion that's not expected.You have to read this book.....you're welcome :)

A mostly light hearted read despite the 15 years of angst and heartbreak, and the mafia drama. Loved seeing more of Hugh and Archie.

Niko is so very swoon worthy. I love the name and the character. Let’s be honest. All of Alam’s men are men that we would melt for. Niko will forever hold a special place in my heart and mind. He and Isla fell so hopelessly and madly in love from their first interactions. That part of the story was what we all dream of. The part of the story we can all relate to is the bad decisions we make when that relationship falls apart. This led Isla into a bad marriage and darker times. Niko never stopped loving, wanting, and longing for her. He had sacrificed so much so that she would be protected and safe. When he finally got his chance with Isla, he took it, and it was glorious. He was the man we all dream of. His love for her was clear, but he also took care of her sons becoming the father figure in their lives.This story was definitely worth the wait. The story was fast paced and kept you wanting more. There were no pointless events that were only there to make the novel longer. There was a point to everything, and it was beautifully written. I wish I was still having kids as I would consider naming a son Niko after this character.

Highly recommend. I love it when a new book comes out. Yours are always steamy, heartfelt, and oh so entertaining. One of my favourite authors.

It was good but I feel like there was no real plot behind this and it was stretched. Tho it was sweet.

I always do a little happy dance when I see Donna Alam has released a new book...But this new release has me bouncing off the walls!Told over a fifteen year span, this standalone story has heat, passion, mystery, danger and ample laughs, that will satisfy any romance reader's dance card!Our hero, come anti-hero, Nikolai (Van) Vanyin is all dark deliciousness. You can almost feel the dangerous vibe emanating from him off the pages. But he also has a cheeky side that just loves to poke our heroine, Isla's inner bear for any kind of reaction, which he never fails to achieve.Isla, who is Alexander from NO ORDINARY GENTLEMEN's twin sister, has plenty on her plate post-divorce with her spirited sons, and an absent ex, so reconnecting with the man who once lit fire in her veins and ultimately broke her heart, was not on her radar. But Van is as relentless as he is perilously magnetic. Isla though, is a determined spitfire, and I loved the tug of war she fights with herself between lust and vulnerability with him.This story also sees the author dipping her toes into the mafia world, and it definitely suits her!Though not a classic dark mafia romance, this skims Van's violent, secretive world superbly, keeping you wondering just how deep his influence and reign goes, and how much of it will impact Isla and her own world.This tale gives second chance romances a red-blooded revamp and yet is still true Donna Alam in style, revisits from pre-loved characters and her usual heavy dose of heat and passion.This dance with the devil scores a resounding 10/10 for me!

I the first thought that comes to mind on what to comment or say about this book is this one song that reminds me of this story, and puts into perspective my thoughts of this story and everything that I would like to say about it… Bon Jovi “Always”. Great book.
