I loved these fennel seeds. They were big, fresh, lively, beautiful, sweetly aromatic--just so nice (nothing like the store-bought varieties, which are so dried up and small, with only a faint lingering smell of fennel). Seeing a big 1 lb bag of beautiful, fresh fennel seeds sitting in my pantry, I remembered to use them for their medicinal benefits too, and, after a meal with a particular potential for upset, opened the bag and scooped a heaping spoonful of fennel seeds into a mug and poured some hot water over them, then let them sit, covered, for a few minutes. The tea worked like a charm, and I bypassed the usual bloatiness and etc that went with that particular meal (those old, dried up seeds I'd been using all along barely comforted my stomach at all, and I always just assumed it could've been much worse if I hadn't bothered to make the tea at all--these actually WORKED). The tea was incredibly tasty too, and breathing in the vapors was so pleasant and relaxing. I plan on trying them out in dukkah, a very nice Egyptian spice mix a good friend got me hooked on (and this particular brand's fennel seeds come all the way from Egypt, which will make it all the more authentic and special). My one tiny peeve was the bag these came in, as the plastic zip completely detached from the bag even while it was being very carefully opened (it's now folded down with a tiny binder clip on the end). Thankfully, the thoughtful folks at Starwest Botanicals slipped the spice bag into a larger, heftier zip lock bag with a better zip, so I wouldn't have any problem with the seeds spilling out anyway. When these are all gone, I'll be ordering another bagful from Starwest via Amazon, as these are not only the freshest and best quality, but also incredibly economical and much more eco-friendly, considering the cost and waste of those tiny little store-bought glass bottles with the plastic caps that I'll never have to buy again. Save your container of store-bought fennel when you're done with it, then use this product as a refill. You'll be so happy you did. Another product I use frequently in sausage making and fresh, quality tasting, and clean organic fennel seeds really come through in the taste of whatever you add them to.

I enjoy eating these plain or boil in water for tea. I like the health benefits it offers. I will continue to purchase and use these. I like the taste and benefits.

I personally don't love the smell and taste of fennel seeds and similar spices and herbs. However, I believe the quality of this fennel is good, and it smells fresh. Fennel has been used for a very long time to combat digestive problems like nausea, gas, bloating, stomach pain, and inflammatory issues. Fennel increases breast milk production and the herb is still used as an eyewash for sore eyes and conjunctivitis. The seeds aid in weight loss and contribute to longevity and overall health, but they are potentially toxic if too much is taken. Fennel stimulates the appetite, and reduces abdominal distension. It helps in the treatment of kidney stones and cystitis. An infusion of the seeds can be taken as a gargle for sore throats and as a mild expectorant.I used these seeds as a main ingredient in a medicinal digestive herbal tea blend, and it seems to really help with upset stomachs and nausea. You can even chew on the seeds to relieve nausea instantly. Fennel has a lot of health benefits, and the price is right for the large amount you get.

If you're looking to buy fennel seeds for medicinal and nutritional purposes, then I highly suggest this product. I've been using them (by thoroughly chewing and swallowing a small handful after lunch and dinner) for roughly two years now and it is exactly what I need for my daily health routine; does the job every time.Now keep in mind that if you plan on purchasing fennel seeds for culinary purposes, this is not the brand for you. There are specific types of fennel plants bred and grown to produce tastier seeds for cooking and the plants that these came off of are not of that culinary variety. I agree that the distributor should include that information on this page, but if you're reading critical reviews and worried of the complaints directed towards the taste now you know why as it does have a rather heavy dirt/licorice taste to it.But again, this is a great product at a great price for nutritional and dietary reasons so for me the taste is irrelevant; the pros outweigh the cons, so to speak.

Whoa! These are really fresh! So they make great tea that aids with the digestive process. Crush a teaspoon or two and use them like tea leaves, steeping for about 8-10 minutes or so. But don't let the water boil! Just let it get very hot. You can also add peppermint leaves to this tea for additional stomach-calming help.Fennel seeds have other healthful properties,too, that you can easily learn about by googling "benefits of fennel seeds." And don't be so quick to reach for an antacid to calm your stomach or some over-the-counter medication to help eliminate excess gas. Check out what these tiny little gems can do for you.Fennel seeds can also be added to recipes: Google "recipes that use fennel seeds" or something similar to that. VOILA! Tons of ideas!These fennel seeds will be a staple in my home from now on.BOTTOM LINE: Buy 'em!

We use it to make a fennel tea… very tasty and very healthy. Great for your immunity. Very pleased with the quality of this fennel.

I love this product and I mix it with the lavender seeds also on Amazon. And add it to my ginger tea and it is absolutely delicious
