Perfect low tech backup
This is a great little product if you accept that it has it's limitations. It's basically a one man, pocket sized water heater with some cleanish burning fuel tabs. I use in conjunction with a 500ml pot and lid as a back up if I run out of gas. The full pot of water needs one and a half fuel tablets to achieve a rolling boil. It will cook your ration packs if they are suitably boil in the bag, but I wouldn't ever expect to do a three course dinner on it.The heat from the tabs is directed to a fairly small area of the pot so it's not a versatile cooker but if all you need is to boil water, then you're laughing. The tablets do give off a little soot but not much at all and they light first time with a spark from a firesteel (sometimes invisibly so watch your fingers). Once lit they liquefy and last for about 8-10 minutes per tablet depending on the conditions. A single tab will boil 300ml in my experience but I like a bigger brew personally, hence mentioning 1.5 tabs earlier. 3 tabs can be stored inside the cooker. If you blow out a burning tab and let it cool, it will solidify into a plasticky solid in the burn tray. This will burn easily upon relighting. After the burn is complete, it will leave a similar layer of residue which I just scrape out and drop in the bin. Probably the best thing about the fuel tabs is that they don't smell like fish in the way that hexi and some other solid fuels tabs do. In fact, there's no offensive smell at all.For a solo day out in the woods or a night of wild camping it's great. If you're going camping with the family, go for something else.

Good stuff!
This is really good fuel. I used it with a BCB Crusader MK2 cooking system and I am impressed at how well it worked. It was so easy to set alight with a flint striker and burns at a high temp. One block lasted just over 12 minutes.Using a lid on a cooking pot will get quicker boiling times. In one test I did, I boiled 500ml of water in about 9.30 minutes using one block and a lid on the mug. I guess it will vary depending on the conditions you are in.It does not smell bad when compared to some other fuels. It does leave some residue in the bottom of the cooker, so will now put some tin foil in place beforehand to keep things cleaner. I noticed it does leave some soot on the bottom of the cooking pot also.Apparently you can light it when it is wet which is handy. This will be excellent starter fuel to get a BBQ going.

Great product!
Very flammable, can be lit with a spark!Lightweight and last for a good period of time, great for camping or starting a fire at home.

lights very easily and is great for getting a fire started
Works well, lights very easily and is great for getting a fire started: However, I would not advise using these in a Kelly Kettle, spirit-burner or wood-stove (even to get it started), the residue from them is a hard plastic that is difficult to remove. The individual packs are well sealed and unlikely to leak (rigid plastic with a soft plastic liner holding the gel). I hope that this helps.

add this to the fire dragon stove and you've got a decent set up that gives off a good deal of heat and a burn time of about ...
Ok it a solid fuel for a camp stove, well it lights wet, in the cold, after you've used it to clean your hands and with a fire steel, tried all of the above yesterday in the snow and still got a brew.It is what it is and it does what it says on the box, add this to the fire dragon stove and you've got a decent set up that gives off a good deal of heat and a burn time of about 8 mins or so. Quite a clean burn, not as sooty as the old hexi blocks and it does not smell like the local ICI plant is on fire. This does turn to liquid once ignited so is not suitable for the old hexi stove or you'll end up with a flaming mess running all over the place. Make sure your stove is going to contain the liquid. All in all, quite impressed, ordered some more to keep in stock.

Burns intense but short time.
It has been a good attempt. For it to be really practical, they have to modify the design so it burns less intensely and over a longer period of time. Because it burns too intense a lot of heat is lost instead of being absorbed by the pot/pan. It should burn calmer and over a longer period of time. It also melts and spread all over which is not ideal. I managed to get it burning much more efficiently feeding/burning half the block first then as the flame starts fading, added quarter a block and again quarter. In this way I reduced the burning intensity and improved the burning time with a much better results.

This stuff is awesome!! I use this all the time
This stuff is awesome !!I use this all the time. It burns really clean and leaves no sooty residue on your kettle or cooking vessel. It lights very Easy ( I use a flint and steel ). It does however leave a hard black residue in the bottom of your cooker which builds up with repeated use. It's also very difficult to remove so I discovered ! I now line my cooker with kitchen foil. This aside, it's a great product, much much better than heximine. (Burns a lot hotter too).

Don't hesitate - you have to try this - it's amazing
Very convenient to use. I bought the bottle of gel as well to compare the cost. Over a 3 day camping trip I used all 6 tabs and had to top up with the gel. I still have lots of gel left so will buy some more of these for emergencies but prefer the flexibility of the gel to match the container and food/drink I am heating.I have to say having baked beans and sausages at 5.30 am in under 2 minutes was amazing after boiling water for tea all on one tab and very economical. And this was real food not re-hydrated packs.Having just cleaned my container - an old tin lid that fits in the esbit stove I was impressed how easily any deposit chipped off and this was using solid fuel tabs as well.Lighting with a flint an steel was also a doddle especially in the wind
