Fulton Birdcage-1 Umbrella

This umbrella feels well made with good quality materials. It feels sturdy and made to last. The opening function is easy, no buttons just the push up type. It feels like it will withstand winds better than previous ones I’ve tried of similar design. It looks stylish and is a good true dome shape to cover your whole face and head keeping our all important hair styles safe from destruction! Perfect! And can still see where your going with it’s see through design. I am very happy with this brolly. Also it was delivered boxed so came in perfect condition, unlike previous ones that were delivered bent. Well worth the money! Thank you ☺️

The Fulton Birdcage appears a robust and well constructed umbrella, easy to open and close. Its shape and size are sufficient to cover me (an adult male) almost down to the waist. The material is very transparent, giving good all round visibility. I haven't used it yet in windy conditions, making it difficult to comment on how well it would tolerate being blown about. So far though the umbrella has been everything I would want it to be and I have no regrets about buying it. The price seems reasonable as well.A couple of additional comments:(i) The domed shape is very good at deflecting rain from the upper body. However, the deflected rain has to go somewhere and I find it ends up smothering me from the lower midriff down, saturating my trousers, and trickling into my shoes;(ii) I walk briskly, generating heat, which rises up into the dome of the umbrella and collects there, making the Birdcage a surprisingly warm and steamy place to be.So, I end up very wet at one end and rather moist at the other end. But it's still an improvement over a conventional umbrella, better looking and easier to use.

The design shields you from slanting rain to some extent, and the transparent fabric makes it easy to see where you're going. For normal conditions where the rain is vertical, protects my pant legs much better than a regular umbrella. Also, even though it's not marketed as wind-resistant, the shape of the canopy makes it wind-resistant. Finally, it's very reasonably priced.

This purchase is to replace the one I left on the train after 6 years of regularly surviving high winds and heavy rain without any sign of deterioration - brilliant and totally reliable - and if I hadn't lost it would have continued to be so! The replacement that initially arrived was a very frail and inadequate version of my original although I thought I was repeating my order from 2018. Very disappointed I complained to the seller and immediately received an apology for the wrong item being sent and told the correct one was now en route. This has now arrived - and is indeed is a replica of my lost one. All this within less than 24 hours - so impressive! Like my brolly!

Exactly as described and feels quite sturdy when using or putting up/down. I like how it comes right past my shoulders and, while I likely look ridiculous to passers by, I arrive in work with dry, perfectly straightened, hair. Not only does the brolly protect you from the rain but the wind too.Only negative (and I’m really struggling to think of something) is it’s quite long. If I’m walking with it I have to grip if lower than the handle as far long to use like a walking stick. I know you know what I mean :) Also it won’t hook over the back of a chair if I go in a cafe/restaurant with it so end up having to slide it somewhere under the table where it won’t trip someone up! As I said, not really a negative, but something to be mindful of if you are vertically challenged like me (5 feet 4 inches).All in all I am pleased with my purchase and give 5 stars

I carefully selected this umbrella, going for quality as well as good looks and I chose this one as it claimed it was exceptionally well made and because of its generous size. It arrived in perfect order. I had read that it would be covered in a coating of powder to stop the folds of plastic sticking together, which was true. I washed it off - unless you want to use a powder-covered umbrella, you have to. It looked beautiful. I tested it out and it felt very robust and worked efficiently. However after only one use (a rainy wedding) where I lent it to another guest, it broke! Several of the metal arms have broken at their joints or twisted so badly that even if you get the umbrella open, it is so wonky in shape it is useless. i have had to throw it away. A complete waste of money. The cause of the breakage can be one of two faults; either it was badly made in the first place, but it looked OK when i first tested it; or it was damaged in trying to open it up - lack of appreciation by a "novice user" that you have to spend a good ten minutes teasing apart the inevitably stuck together folds of plastic when the umbrella has been folded down - the plastic sticks incredibly to itself, like cling film, or worse, and takes quite a bit of patience and gentle encouragement to unstick the folds to allow you to open the umbrella out. I would imagine that if you simply push the umbrella open in the normal fashion, the metal arms will simply crumple under the force as the plastic simply doest budge. Useless in a sudden downpour.I cannot see how this umbrella can be sold when it takes such an effort to open it up, and clearly just one use by someone who didn't know the pitfalls has rendered it useless. I'm very disappointed and consider it a complete waste of money.
