Bugs hate it
With a toddler in the house, we don't want some mosquito with West Nile virus making the little one sick. So we got this to take care of the nasty bugs. It works too. There is an old saying that "to make a red neck happy, give him a bug zapper to watch and a six-pack to drink." As my son said upon hearing that, "Dad, it isn't just red necks. Everybody likes to watch bug zappers." I can't speak to the entertainment value of this equipage (to my dismay, I don't have the leisure to watch bugs die) but it certainly slays the bugs. That counts for me. I like this so well that I might just get another on for the front porch. Who knows, I might want to sit there sometime and not get bit by a nat.

Don't waste your money.
I've been having a gnat problem indoors that I am trying to eliminate. I purchased this zapper because it was supposed to be usable both indoors and outdoors, and great for gnats. The first problem is that the manual only specifies outdoor use, and all throughout the manual it alludes to the fact that this is a serious fire hazard that shouldn't be used indoors. Part of what is listed as being a fire hazard is the cord. It says in the manual, "To reduce the risk of fire or injury, only plug into a properly installed outlet," alluding to the idea that it isn't safe to plug into an extension cord. If they didn't want it plugged into an extension cord, then they shouldn't have made the cord a whopping six inches long. The cord is so short, and so rigid, in fact, that I tried plugging it in and sat it on the counter where the plug is directly in line with the cord, and the cord won't flex and is apparently heavier than the lamp because it makes it immediately want to topple over. You pretty much have to hang the lamp to be able to use it, which makes it even more of an eye-sore than it already is in your house. Additionally, they provide a chain to hang the device with, but don't provide an eyelet or any similar hardware to even hang it. Not to mention, if you do hang it, you are back in the same boat of not having enough cord to do anything with. The chain is significantly longer than the cord, and how many people do you know that have a "properly installed outlet" on their ceiling. The part that irritates me the most is that the thing doesn't even work. I placed it in an area swarming with gnats, and immediately I watched them start flocking to the light. I expected the zapper to start killing them, but nope. They fly right through it. I watched them bump right into the metal grating on the inside that is supposed to provide the shock and just keep flying. I thought, "Well surely it's doing something and I'm just not seeing it." I waited several hours and then checked the collection tray to see if it was doing literally ANYTHING, but there was not a single bug in the collection tray. These are gnats and it can't even kill those. If you are intending to buy this for mosquitoes, you'd be better off to find something else before the mosquitoes laugh you out of the barbecue. I, being the gullible idiot that I am, bought two of these things thinking I could put them on both ends of the house. Now I'm stuck here with two fire hazards that literally wouldn't harm a fly.

Great item. Great price too
Just received it today. Going to use it inside. I am fighting fruit flies. That's why I ordered this item. So after a week, I will re-edit my review to let you know how it goes. Thank you.

Good product for small places!
Great & Solid 4 Stars!! The tray to catch dead bugs is easy to empty and the zapper is super easy to use & hang. It is a little shorter than a Barbie Doll and is fabulous for a tiny home, small trailer, or RV! It is pretty quiet too! I loved the Holiday sale price of $17 & feel that any thing under $25 is a good deal for this!

Looks Great, But Didn’t Deliver on Performance
I was drawn to this bug zapper electric lantern because of its sleek design and the promise of keeping my outdoor space mosquito-free. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. Despite running it nightly, I noticed little to no reduction in the mosquito population around my patio. The device seemed to attract more moths than mosquitoes, which wasn’t helpful. I followed all the setup instructions carefully, ensuring it was placed in an optimal location, but the results were disappointing. On the positive side, the lantern is well-constructed and adds a nice aesthetic touch to the yard. Decided to return it. It’s a decent-looking product, but if you’re specifically aiming to reduce mosquitoes, this might not be the most effective solution.

Worked for Us
We bought this in May 2023, and I've waited until mid-August before writing this review. We're pleased with its results. It was in early May 2023 that we were outside for an evening, and my wife was bit 10-12 times in the back of the neck (looked like chicken pox for 10 days). We ordered this zapper the next day, left it on for 3-4 nights in a row, and then we checked the removable tray. "Those are the ones that got me," my wife said, recognizing their carcasses. Here we are in mid-August 2023, and we've run this device a couple nights a week every few weeks. We've had no problems with mosquitos this summer. For us, all the bug bits have fallen/collected into the removable tray. We hang this zapper on a plant hanger over a part of our yard, but we've kept the removable tray to see evidence that it's working. See for yourself (photo attached). This photo is what it collected after maybe 12 nightly cycles.

Great product but very inconvenient power cord.
Product works as described, Build quality is very good. Price is very competitive even when compared to chinese manufactured prices. Comes with a spare replacement Bulb and cleaning brush and mounting tools; However, as it is marketed as both an indoor and outdoor Product i find it very inconvenient that the power cord is barely 6 inches long making it very hard to place and work with unless you have long extension cords or a conveniently installed ceiling outlet. You can manufacture a great product but if it has little to no versatility its borderline useless and terrible product design. It also would have been very nice to see that included as part of the product description. I do not recommend buying this especially for indoor use.
