"45 years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed ‘Live At Pompeii’ in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre there, he returned for two spectacular shows, part of his year-long tour in support of his No.1 album ‘Rattle That Lock’. The performances were the first-ever rock concerts for an audience in the stone Roman amphitheatre, and, for two nights only, the 2,600 strong crowd stood exactly where gladiators would have fought in the first century AD.‘David Gilmour Live At Pompeii’ is an audio experience on its own, while the audio-visual spectacle features lasers, pyrotechnics and a huge circular screen on which specially-created films complement selected songs. Paramount, however, is the incredible music: the show includes songs from throughout David's career, as well as many Pink Floyd classics, including 'One Of These Days', the only song that was also performed at the band’s 1971 show. Both concerts also saw very special performances of 'The Great Gig In The Sky' from 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' which David rarely plays as a solo artist. DVD and Blu-ray versions contain an extra 7-minute documentary by Gavin Elder ‘Pompeii Then And Now’‘David Gilmour Live At Pompeii’ shows an artist at the top of his artistic game, performing incredible material with his world-class band, in a unique setting on one very special occasion. " Review: get all high quality Floyd. - again quite a bit better than the dvd for sound + vision. Review: Superb live music, brings the concert experience up to date - The Live at Pompeii 2017 Bluray is mostly superb and many of the performances are an improvement on the original album tracks. Lots of old Floyd favourites are here as well as some new Gilmour ones. The visual experience is excellent, especially when seen on a big screen and immersed in proper multi-speaker full surround sound . The only weak track is Great Gig in the Sky, but then nobody can match Clare Torry. On the plus side, One of These Days and Run Like Hell are both outstanding, best versions ever. The documentary is more interesting than I expected, worth a look especially if you saw the original 1972 film or have the music. Live at Pompeii 2017 Tracks are: 1. 5 A.M. 2. Rattle That Lock 3. Faces of Stone 4. What Do You Want from Me 5. The Blue 6. The Great Gig In the Sky 7. A Boat Lies Waiting 8. Wish You Were Here 9. Money 10. In Any Tongue 11. High Hopes Interval 12. David Gilmour Live at Pompeii
In 2015 David Gilmour returned to perform a solo show at the Pompeii amphitheatre to promote his then recent Rattle That Lock album 44 years after playing the famous concert film Live at Pompeii with Pink Floyd. It’s a very different vibe to Floyd Pompeii concert where a pre Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd played their early post Syd Barrett pre Dark Side material in Pompeii in front of no audience other than the film crew and roadies during the daytime, In this concert Gilmour plays a mixture of his solo material and mainly Pink Floyd classics from Dark Side onwards at night in front of 3000 fans. Only One of These Days was played at both concerts. Joining David Gilmour on guitar & vocals and Mr Screen on films are regular Floyd touring bassist Guy Pratt, Drummer Steve DiStanislao who played on the On an Island album and tour, Keyboardists / vocalists Greg Phillinganes and Chuck Leavell, guitarist Chester Kamen, João Mello on Sax plus backing vocalists Bryan Chambers, Lucita Jules and Louise Clare Marshall. Together they make up one hell of a band capable of handing all the material giving it both the respect & reverence it deserves and making it sound fresh. Musically the set is superb. We get a fair amount of Gilmour’s solo stuff - 5 A.M, Rattle That Lock, Faces of Stone, The Blue, A Boat Lies Waiting, In Any Tongue, On an Island and Today and it definitely works much better live. The only complaint perhaps is that most of the Pink Floyd classics are largely the same as those David has played live with Pink Floyd during the post Roger Waters era – and yep Roger plays them too in his live shows. So we get One of These Days from Meddle, Time/Breath, Money and The Great in the Sky from Dark Side of The Moon, Shine on You Crazy Diamond and the title track from Wish You Were Here, and Run like Hell and Comfortably Numb from The Wall – there again one ever tires of hearing them. The only different song in the set from the classic Floyd era is Fat Old Sun from Atom Heart Mother. We also get some classics from the Gilmour led Pink Floyd era like Sorrow from A Momentary Lapse of Reason and What Do You Want From Me, High Hopes and Coming Back To Life from The Division Bell. It’s a shame that Louder Than Words the excellent closing song from 2014’s The Endless River didn’t get set list. The setting at Pompeii to film the concert is a definite master stroke as it gives the show the size and scale of a stadium gig with the atmosphere and intimacy of smaller venue like the Royal Albert Hall. The HD picture and 5.1 DTS Master Audio sound quality are excellent and this concert is absolutely made to take full advantage of your home theatre and HD TV setup giving you an experience maybe not as fantastic as being at the concert itself but certainly on a par with catching this show at the cinema. Definitely an essential purchase for most Pink Floyd and classic rock fans

A Stunning Visual and Auditory Feast
I've been a lifelong Pink Floyd fan, and this Blu-ray release of David Gilmour's Live at Pompeii is simply breathtaking. The visuals are stunning, capturing the grandeur of the ancient Roman amphitheater and the intimacy of Gilmour's performance. Gilmour's guitar playing is, as always, phenomenal and the setlist is a perfect mix of classic Pink Floyd songs and solo material. The bonus features are also a great addition, providing some fascinating insights into the making of the concert. If you're a fan of Pink Floyd or David Gilmour, this Blu-ray is an absolute must-have. It's a timeless piece of music history that will continue to amaze and inspire for years to come.

Great Concert
Great mix of old and new material. I am a big fan of DG/Floyd and musically this doesn't disappoint. Would have given 5 stars but I thought the smoke effects were over the top, at times you couldn't see the band, personally I found it a bit distracting. Overall though a great concert, DG still delivers and the band/singers are brilliant in a superb venue.

Absolutely fantastic!
This is a perhaps a best Concert bluray i have, and i have those a lot. Live at Pompeij is such a great concert, not just for its superb music but for its visuality too. Sound and picture in this bluray is second to none and all the musicians are fantastic. Still i have to say, that Gilmore himself with his guitar is the cream of the cake as he should be. The guitar sound is unbelieveable as you would expect from him. I would have given this 6 stars if it only would have been possible and im not even a pink floyd fan!
