Buy Russian Grammar You Really Need To Know: Teach Yourself Bilingual by West, Daphne (ISBN: 9781444179552) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Good buy - Exactly what I needed, good explanations of grammar in English with maybe 5-10 exercises per topic plus the answers. Review: So glad I bought this- it has lived up to those ... - I bought this on the recommendation of a previous reviewer who praised it very highly as his trusted 'go to' book whenever he needed a bit of help or revision. So glad I bought this- it has lived up to those expectations I had from that review. Better by far than any of my (more than a few) Russian grammar books for quick, intelligible answers to my questions about case endings and the other grammar points in Russian. As I get more advanced in the language, I still find myself reaching for it just to remind myself of the basics which are so clearly set out in this book. Many grammar books lean on the side of being too fully comprehensive and thus may confuse or overburden the early learner; this is happily in the middle and is a splendid book. I don't usually recommend books but I certainly would, this one.

ESSENTIAL FOR LEARNING RUSSIAN GRAMMAR!
I own three books on Russian grammar, and this is the one I use most often.I own RUSLAN RUSSIAN GRAMMAR by John Langran, and A COMPREHENSIVE RUSSIAN GRAMMAR by Terence Wade. A Comprehenseive Russian Grammar, I barely use, and although Ruslan Russian Grammar is a good book, I still use this by far the most often. I go back to it again, again, and again.

It is just about acceptible, but strewn with errors. Evidently it has not been properly proof-read
I am attempting to learn Russian with the author's companion volume "Complete Russian", which is also published in the Teach Yourself series. I bought the Grammar book as I was looking for something with more focus to use in parallel, and which gave a more in-depth treatment of the language, with more exercises. To a certain extent, "Russian Grammar..." does meet my needs, but, like "Complete Russian", it is spoilt by a vast number of errors. These include obvious typos, but also incorrect answers to some exercises and shoddy/incorrect explanations in the text (eg including inanimate nouns in a list headed "animate" nouns!. If I, as a novice, can spot so many errors then it begs the question as to how many more mistakes are lurking, undiscovered. In my opinion, it is a disgrace that the publishers should release text books which show so little evidence of being competently proof-read. In return for the price I paid the books, I would be happy to sell the publishers my list of the mistakes I have found. At least they will then have had the books properly proof read!

Great book for mastering basic Russian grammar.
Presents grammar in a steady yet easy to understand format. I had previously tried other textbooks but some lessons are hard to follow because they present too much rules and theory in between exercises, which for me are indispensable for testing my understanding. Not so this book. It has lots and lots of exercises and is easily one of the better books I have had about Russian grammar. However, I recommend some knowledge of Russian before you start this book, at least a beginners level.

Excellent book that clearly reviews Russia's foundational grammar to take learners to intermediate stage. If you are patient, willing to work over time and systematically build your knowledge then by using this book as a consolidator to the Penguin Course and Daphne West's Teach Yourself Russian you ought to end up with a very strong platform after about 18 months on average. If you're just looking for a few tourist phrases then that's something diferent. This book builds confidence and accesses a fairly complex system that needs constant review and reinforcement. Lots of explanation to assist with grammar points with those all vital simple examples to illustrate meaning.
