![Lethal Weapon: The Complete Collection [4 Film] [Blu-ray] [1987] [2005] [Region Free][Cover May Vary]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81CRsHQI3jL.jpg)

Arguably Hollywood’s premier mismatched cops franchise, the four Lethal Weapon movies are gathered together in high definition for the first time, in this highly entertaining, action-packed boxset. The mismatched cops here? That’d be livewire Riggs, played by Mel Gibson, and straight-down-the-line, edging closer to retirement Murtaugh, played by Danny Glover. The pair have a terrific chemistry together, and by the end of the fourth film, the franchise has also brought in the likes of Joss Ackland, Patsy Kensit, Rene Russo, Joe Pesci and Chris Rock, amongst others. The best Lethal Weapon film? That’d be the first, though, when Riggs really does feel like an unpredictable character on the edge. That’s softened as the franchise moves on, where it favours comedy over such elements of drama. But it’s not a bad transition, and the movies remain just as enjoyable. For when the Lethal Weapon films do comedy, it really works. Just look at the scene with the bomb attached to the toilet in Lethal Weapon 2 . It’s a strong collection of films, each of which has benefited from a high definition upgrade. Plus, there’s the bonus of an added disc of bonus features to get your teeth into, too. -- Jon Foster Box set containing all four films from the popular 'Lethal Weapon' series. In 'Lethal Weapon' (1987), Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is a family man cop who is about to turn fifty. Cautious by nature, he is less than happy to be paired with Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) when he is assigned to investigate Californian drug baron 'The General' (Mitchell Ryan). Following the death of his wife, Riggs has become a manic loner who no longer cares whether he lives or dies - an approach which causes more than a few problems as he and Murtaugh attempt to bring the General to justice. In 'Lethal Weapon 2' (1989), Riggs (Gibson) and his partner Murtaugh (Glover) once again tackle the evils of drug smuggling, this time coming up against a South African syndicate whose kingpins are protected by diplomatic immunity. In 'Lethal Weapon 3' (1992), Detectives Murtaugh (Glover) and Riggs (Gibson) are both demoted after triggering a car bomb in a multi-storey car park, but they are soon reinstated after uncovering a network - run by an ex-cop - which is smuggling weapons out of a police ammunition dump. Finally, in 'Lethal Weapon 4' (1998), mismatched cops Riggs (Gibson) and Murtaugh (Glover) team up for a fourth time to foil an immigrant smuggling racket, run by a ruthless Asian Triad leader (Jet Li). Joe Pesci also returns as Leo Getz, the cops' cowardly informant whilst Rene Russo leavens the boys with toys atmosphere as risk-taking detective Lorna Cole. Review: Ultimate Buddy Cop GOAT - Lethal Weapon: The Complete Collection on Blu-ray is a brilliant boxset that pulls together all four films in one tidy, great-value package. The upgrade to Blu-ray really helps these action classics shine, with cleaner visuals and stronger audio than older DVD releases. Lethal Weapon (1987) – The original film still feels sharp and emotional. Mel Gibson’s unpredictable, damaged Riggs paired with Danny Glover’s steady, world-weary Murtaugh is what makes this movie special. The action scenes, dark humour and Christmas setting all hold up very well, and the Blu-ray transfer gives the film a surprisingly fresh look for its age. Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) – This is often the fan favourite, and it’s easy to see why. The chemistry between Riggs and Murtaugh really clicks here, with a perfect mix of big action, tension and laughs. The plot around South African diplomats adds stakes, and the emotional payoff is still powerful. On Blu-ray, the nighttime and action sequences are much clearer than on older versions. Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) – The third film leans more into buddy-cop humour without losing the heart. Rene Russo is a great addition, and the dynamic between the three leads is a lot of fun. The story around stolen police weapons keeps things moving, and the explosions and set pieces look great in HD. Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) – The final film feels bigger and more modern, with Jet Li as a memorable villain and Chris Rock adding extra comedy. It wraps up the journey of the characters nicely and gives a sense of family and closure, which is satisfying if you watch them in order. As a boxset, this collection works really well. It’s region-free, so there are no playback issues, and having all four films together makes it very easy to binge the whole series or dip into your favourite. Picture and sound quality are consistently good across the discs, and the set offers excellent value compared to buying the films individually. Overall, this is a fantastic choice for anyone who loves ’80s and ’90s action, buddy-cop films, or just wants a solid collection of rewatchable movies in one convenient Blu-ray box. Review: Absolutely fantastic quadrilogy - I loved these films so much I just couldn't resist getting them on DVD, even though they do see airtime on terrestrial TV. I was very pleased to find 1-3 were "Director's Cut" and the snippet of extra film I had seen only once before from the original, I got to see in context. The first film 'forces' Riggs and Murtaugh together as partners, the unlikely pairing finding getting along rather difficult. As they progress through the investigation. film and indeed series their bonding becomes further, until such a point distrust has become trust, even if they don't appreciate it for some time. The cast also utilises Gary Busey very well, and the beauty of the film is there are a lot of terrific characters no matter how central or secondary. The latter scenes are excellent, remind me of Die Hard in its action packed finale The sequel sees a war between police and criminals hiding behind their diplomatic credentials. It becomes increasingly personal, and reveals a lot more about our central characters which you may note from the first film if you look closely. It is action packed, funny and brilliantly scripted. Joe Pesci is introduced and becomes a third central character for this and the rest of the series. The only question I'm left pondering is how they can shoot so many people with diplomatic immunity and get away with it! The third is perhaps my favourite, the very moving scenes when Murtaugh finds law enforcement is a lot closer to home than he'd like. He then sets out to right wrongs, a rather more personal vendetta than we've seen before. The film brings in yet another central character in Rene Russo without overburdening the film with too many leads, as other films and comedy series can do. The bad guys as usual are great, love to hate them types. This film has a lot more feeling and emotion to it than perhaps the previous two had even looked at. The final film suffered from the time elapsed since the previous film. 1987, 1989, 1992 and then 1998 before the quadrilogy ran its course. They did manage to retain the original cast, and the plot wasn't too bad, but this is the weaker link of the four and further evidence that series need to be sustained and not someone decide to go back and make another years later. Chris Rock is introduced as a new character, the plot meanders a bit and something doesn't quite click. Maybe it tries too hard, maybe. As Riggs has now become a has-been in the context of being the "lethal weapon" of the title, it is rather a wind-down film reliant on elements it doesn't deliver. Jet Li as the bad guy is way too wooden for me, a lot doesn't add up, and please someone tell me why, when a car is pushing you onto a level crossing in front of a train, you don't simply ACCELERATE?!?!?!? I've given it five stars, it is a thoroughly excellent collection even if the last film might only get a 3.5 to 4.0 rating. Own it now.

LETHAL WEAPON Blu Ray Review
At the current price of £11.99 this is an absolute steal. All four films are included, remastered looking wonderful but are NOT the Directors Cuts we got on DVD a few years back. I am not generally a fan of action films - Sci-Fi or horror would be more my thing, but these films always appealed to me and I'm a huge fan of the series. LETHAL WEAPON is a classic violent, dark but at times funny action flick LETHAL WEAPON 2 is the best of the series with the best story and villains, the violence of the first but a nice balance of humour. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover is magic from this installment onwards. Joe Pesci makes a welcome introduction into the series. LETHAL WEAPON 3 has early 90's written all over it, its the weakest of the four, the direction and story isn't great, but still an enjoyable film thanks to the lovable characters and its still funny. LETHAL WEAPON 4 in my eyes is an improvement over the third and has a great ending wrapping up the series nicely. Still not a fan of Chris Rock though, the weak link of the film. Each Blu ray has featurettes, the deleted scenes and an audio commentary. Lethal Weapon 4 has the enjoyable Pure Lethal documentary too. Disc 5 consists of 4 documentaries filmed in 2010 for this release- totaling nearly two hours, for fans of the series this is solid gold as I have seen very little behind the scenes footage about these four films. Featuring interviews from the crew along with Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Rene Russo, Chris Rock and director Richard Donner. For me, this is the best release of the franchise ever (If you ignore the dreadful cover art)

Information regarding the different cuts of film here
I love Lethal Weapon. In my opinion, with the possible exception of the Die Hard trilogy (not 4), they are the greatest action crime movies ever made. My opinion still hasn't changed, but my opinion on this Blu-Ray set is much lower. Two things: Firstly, the full director's cuts are not included. You only get the additional footage in the extra features. It is easy to include two versions of each film, as many other films have done this (Alien box set in particular). Therefore it appears they have just been lazy and not bothered. This is very disappointing, seeing as the kind of people who will buy this set are fans and will most likely want both versions. That's the kind of thing fans see as being required if they buy a Blu Ray collection of one of their favourite movie franchises. Secondly, I'm not pleased it's been demoted to a 15 certificate. There was always something quite exciting when I was younger watching these films at age 15, knowing I was not supposed to. Obviously now I am older age isn't an issue, but the thought of the discs being adult action films is still something I enjoy, and to make them 15s takes a little something away from the emotional impact of the films in my eyes. This isn't as big as issue as the first criticism, but I just wanted to put it out there. The only thing which I believe makes this set worth of 4 stars, rather than 3, is the fact that the movies are still fantastic, and also the fact that they have included each uncut version of each film, rather than the cut UK versions seen previously. This makes me think it even stranger that the box set is rated 15, as the material the BBFC originally cut from the 18 certificate is present, yet they have now given it a 15 certificate! Bizarre! I'm really suffering from indecision about whether to buy this product or not. I would love to have the Quadrilogy on Blu-Ray to watch with beer over Christmas, and at present I only own the cut non-director's cut versions anyway. However, this is precisely why if I am going to shell out essentially a fiver for each disc in this box set, I want my money to be well spent and to be obtaining the versions of the film I do not currently own. I hate to say it, but I actually think I'm more tempted to buy the standard definition Director's Cuts on DVD and watch those instead. Disappointing Blu-Ray package.

I was overjoyed when it arrived & I saw it did have ...
I was in two minds which box set of Lethal Weapon I should buy as some make mention of new extra content & some don't & me being a huge extra features fan I wanted to make sure I had the special features laden set. I was overjoyed when it arrived & I saw it did have all the extra stuff. I'm on the first film with director Richard Donner's commentary on and...err..Someone unheard is clearly asking him questions as he keeps not hearing them & asking "what pardon?" & then answers a question we the viewer don't hear with "er yes this was... or nope/no this is" someone else is sat with him answering his questions or asking other occational questions that he answers. but the whole thing is a little confusing to listen to. It's a good job the films are top notch action buddy cop fodder & hugely entertaining without the mixed up commentary. Having now sat through the first & second film with the commentary on I can say it does get better through LW2 so all is not lost. The films are brilliant from a time when there were many great action movies that came out, before the over use of horid cgi & in time where actual cars crash, real buildings blow up & stunts & set pieces are real. As a result they have a kind of heaviness to them that modern cgi films don't, no flimsy cgi cartooniness. The Action is great, as is the camaraderie & it's all fun too. full stars

Great Video and Audio Quality
Please accurately describe the audio and video quality of any Blu-Ray you review. Thanks to those who do this. I am very pleased with this Blu-Ray purchase. I took notes after watching each of the four movies. I thought the video quality was great. The first movie didn't have quite as good of video quality as the last three, but it was still very good. I noticed a little fine grain in some of the scenes in the first movie, but didn't see any in the last three. In all four of the movies, blacks were black, without grain, and without distortion. There were a lot of night scenes in the fourth movie, and they all looked great. Overall, I give the movies an average of 9.4 on a 10.0 scale, with 10.0 being absolutely perfect. I have never rated a Blu-Ray less than 4.0. Aspect ratio was 2.35:1 or 2.4:1 in the last three movies, and, for some reason, 1.78:1 or 1.85:1 in the first movie. All four of the movies have DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio, which is also great. There is a lot of surround sound, except for the third movie, which doesn't have as much as the other three. There really isn't much sub-woofer bass, but I did notice more in the fourth movie. Movie 1: 1 hour and 47 minutes. Movie 2: 1 hour and 50 minutes. Movie 3: 1 hour and 54 minutes. Movie 4: 2 hours. All of the movies are very good, but my favorite was the second movie. There is a 5th disc, but I did not watch any bonus material.
