A great series to watch over again.
So Wonderfull to own the whole series on dvd, the packaging is cheap and cheerful ,but protects the discs well. My order from the states turned up 5 days early as a bonus! Picture quality is brilliant, and do remember you need a multi Region DVD player.

Great show! Great star!!
Well, there isn't much more to say about the show - it is a great show! And of course, who doesn't love James Garner?? About the fact that they're region 1 DVDs - for anybody who like me buys stuff from both from UK and US, I think it's worth getting a multi-region DVD player. It was the best buy I ever made when I got one! So of course, if you don't have one, either you put the DVDs on the computer, or you have to be very careful when you buy stuff from US. Sometimes they're multi-region DVDs, sometimes they're not. About the packaging - I admit it's not the fanciest one, but I can say that prefer these paper disc holders over some plastic ones where the DVDs are so hard to take out that they might break (I broke a couple of them myself. Sigh...) They hold the DVDs very tightly, so it's not that they might fall onto the floor by themselves. The collection is a bargain, compared to anything they're selling nowadays; so if you love the show and you just enjoy watching it, I recommend this buy!

Very happy to have managed to afford the complete collection.
Quite clearly states that this set is region 1 when viewed through a web browser - in red towards the top of the page when viewing on my laptop, or in the product information box when viewing on my phone. Also in the production information using the Amazon App on my phone, but I couldn't see it anywhere obvious using the App on my Fire Tablet !!! However, due to the fact it says 'Import' in the title I'd always check for region carefully before ordering - even though region 1 is fine for me as I have two multi-region DVD players. I hadn't spotted the previous review which mentions the fact these come in cardboard sleeves, so was a little surprised as to how small/light my package was. Very happy with it though, and I'd be quite happy to buy more in this style of packing. The DVDs don't fall out like so many others I have in cardboard sleeves, and they take up a lot less space and are more enviromentally friendly than plastic cases. Being second hand mine shows some signs of wear, but that's never a problem for me as long as the actual DVDs are in a playable condition.

Ho scelto questa edizioni perche' mi e' sembrata la piu' conveniente. In lingua inglese, senza lingua italiana.

Great series. Took me back quite some years. Enjoyed it then and still do. A great drama/comedy. As well as the tension of the drama, there are a lot of brilliant "one liners"in there as well.

Rockford Files holds up remarkably well for a 45 year old TV show. It's hard to believe it's that old really. Generally good to very good writing, some great acting (James Garner, Stuart Margolin and Isaac Hayes in particular) with a few poor performances mixed in. The 70s stereotypes can stick out a bit in watching it today. Such as all small town locals seeming to have Southern accents, regardless of where they are. And there are some things that were new when it first aired, but are now cliches today. But otherwise it's as good as almost anything that's been put out recently in the detective show genre. It beats things such as Midsommer Murders, Brokenwood or Tin Star hands down, and I'd take it over Death in Paradise, Frost or even Psyche. It even compares reasonably well with the likes of Bosch, Longmire, George Gently, Jack Irish, Poirot and Sherlock. Though the production quality doesn't match today's and it doesn't fit the gritty crime drama mold of many of those modern shows. Rockford Files was set in LA's natural sunlight, instead of Bosch's atmospheric nights and lights and so doesn't have the same urban feel to it. It's hard to come up with a modern show that matches the blend of serious situations with Rockford's laconic humor. There's a lot of James Garner in James Rockford, and that's a good thing. If you can get past the lack of lens flares and what not, and stick to the characters and stories (with many a car chase thrown in), you'll enjoy this. The price is great. It comes on 22 discs and so is packed in dual-sided cardboard sleeves. They could have made the the two piece cardboard box those are housed in a bit sturdier, but it's adequate (barely) and not enough to knock off a star. They could also have put the disc details on the sleeves. As is you have to look at the small print on the discs themselves to tell what it is. Again, a minor thing.

All I ask of DVD collections is that the packaging be as simple as possible (to avoid ramping up the cost when all I really want is to play the DVDs) and for the packaging design to be safe for the DVDs themselves, so that when you go to get a DVD out or put it back, you are not in danger of damaging it or the other DVDs in the collection. It is surprising how many distributors get this very wrong. This distributor got it just right. Phew! I have not started watching these DVDs yet, but if I start to watch them and find they are deficient in any way, I will come back and edit this review accordingly. Since that tends not to be a problem with new DVDs, I will go ahead and post this review on the assumption that the discs themselves play fine. The price seems to go up and down quite a bit for this splendid 1970's show, but I caught them on a good day when they were extremely reasonably priced. Great value for the money.
