We had this fitted due to a chemical taste in our water and real problems with limescale as we live in a hard water area. It has taken us a few years to take the plunge and in the mean time we have had magnets fitted round the water pipes and electrical coils too. Both of which were supposed to reduce limescale and neither worked.So we took the plunge and bought this after a long hard think, as its not cheap. However we are so glad we did. The water tastes better and already only a few weeks after it was fitted you can see that the kettle is not scaling up anywhere near as quick. The refills are a little expensive as they are £299 for 3 years of filters, but to be honest we have no complaints at all so far and its lovely to drink tea and coffee and clean our teeth with nice water.A ward of warning in that it is a huge unit with the filter in place but it does fit in the cupboard under the sink as long as it is a deep one and it will take a good third of it up. We also had a bypass fitted so we could turn it off at any time, in particular for leaks or changing the filters and still have running water.All in all a brilliant investment if you have similar problems with your water to us.****************************************************************************************************************************************************************2nd Review - We've now had this system fitted for over 12 months and i've recently changed the first filter at its 12 months due date. It was a little bit of a pain to change as the plastic tool that comes with it was just not strong enough to remove the housing, even after all the water and pressure had been drained. In the end i bought a 300mm Size Oil Filter Removal Strap Tool after seeing a video of it being used to do the same job and i have to say it was easy with that.It was as simple as stopping the water flowing to the filters, turn on your cold water taps to drain the pipes and remove the pressure, then press the little red button on the top of the filters to remove and remaining pressure. Then remove the blue housing with the tool or the strap i used, just be warned that you will need a few towels down as a lot of water comes out of the housing once opened. Simply unscrew the housing, remove the filter and clean the housing with hot water. Pop in the new filter, put some Lithium Grease around the top of the housing, screw it back up, hand tighten it with the provided tool, although not too much, then let the water flow back in and leave your taps running for a few minutes to clean out the filter and get rid of any air in the pipes. It took me about 20-30 minutes to do it and i have no plumbing experience.As for our water, after a year of using it, it is obvious that it is really helping with limescale. Our kettle does not have anywhere near as much in it as it used to and i bought a new coffee machine 6 months ago that tells you when to descale it and apparently it normally does it every 3 months in hard water area's and i'm still waiting for it to tell me to do it. The clear plastic container that holds the water has no marks on it that you usually find with hard water and no white ring around it. Plus as a bonus our water tastes nicer and we no longer need to worry about bottled water or buying water filter jugs etc.All in all we are very happy with the product and it works well for us and we live in a very hard water area and have had limescale issues for over 25 years until we got this. This is not a water softener as your ordinary salt-softened product. It is effective and environmentally friendly but does leave water residue stains, which can be cleaned with any conventional anti-lime product - however, those additional cleaning products make it all environmentally unfriendly again.

Sadly buying this item was a complete and utter waste of time and money, especially as I cost just as much as the purchase price to have it fitted. I have waited for several months to see if it would have any more bearing on the softness of our water and it has not. Everything scales up just as quick, the kettle and shower heads. If you live in London forget about this product and get something different. I suggested to the company they should add a caveat to their description when it comes to hard water areas such as london where it is renowned to be hard, but I have heard nothing back.

Good quality product. The scale filter however is not fantastic but I ahve noticed a significant difference. When measuered with testing strips it was almost the same however. The water filter works well.

I've had the unit for nearly 6 months now and have checked my water cylinder and immersion heater (which is in daily use) and can confirm they are spotless of scale. Supply is >200mg/l hard scale.That's the good news.The bad news is the claims that this stops scale build up around fixtures/sinks etc is totally inaccurate.This so called soft scale builds up immediately on the shower screen and anything that gets wet, it looks like a white residue, it is easy to wipe off WHEN WET. If you let it dry then its just like having no treatment at all, back to limescale removal chemicals and lots of scrubbing.So in summary:Do you only care about appliance protection and internal pipework? If yes then this is great I I believe works very well.Do you want easier cleaning? If yes then you need a salt based softener, no question.I cannot believe the reviews that say they have NO scale buildup externally are true, or maybe they had low levels of hardness anyway.Chlorine removal works a treat but then any carbon filter would do this, nothing special there.

The product was as described and has given immediate results on feel and taste of water. The item arrived before estimated delivery date and very well packaged. The instructions are clear to follow and those who are happy with plumbing should find this no problem. As described upon turn on there was black residue in the toilet bowl as had flushed the toilet prior to turning the water off, so quite a good tip as had no other residue when any of the cold taps were turned on. As described I ran the tap for 5 minutes, although slightly longer as used the outside tap and watered the plants (waste not want not!). We had previously had a fernox electrolytic inline filter for about 5 years so possible due for renewal but was finding our hand starting to get really dry and sore. Not sure if the water companies had added anything to the water with the Covid situation or because we are washing our hands more often as suggested, but this is what prompted us to look and this is when we found this product. The taste of the water was the first thing we noticed, tea tasted nicer almost immediately and a few days on our hands are almost feeling normal again despite washing them the same as before. Time will tell and will post another review a few months down the line as it has only been installed about 3 days but so far am really impressed with the results.

Hi, Just to let you know that the PLUMBER had to dismantle The Filters THREE TIMES Because Of WATER LEEKS There was not enough Tape a Round The Joints as it was set UP. The Filter System should have Been Tested Before sending to the Customer. With the Water Leeks Fixed it is Working Fine very Pleased. RUSTY.
