Just what I needed for my classroom
The kids in my class love these stories. They are short enough to do a whole class session on reading and comprehension skills in an hour.

Short and straight to the point
Very short stories that don't daunt a struggling reader. I used these to boost confidence, encourage daily reading practice and to act as a starting point for story composition. The brevity made the lessons more fun and therefore more useful than longer texts. Most of the reviews remind us that the stories aren't new. Most ARE new to the young readers for whom I believe them to have been intended. Those that aren't could be a used as an introduction to what used to be called précis. I have planned some work on text analysis using 3 of these stories as a starting point.

Well worth a read
A brilliant book for older children (year 4 and up) Great way to show how to write a great story in less than 1 page.

A bit weird
These were recommended by the Hamilton scheme of work for literacy as part of the 'mystery' topic. We did use them a bit but some of the stories were a bit odd - some totally inappropriate and others useable but not exactly what you would call traditional mystery. Probably better to stick with a Scooby Doo type story!

Great stories
My class loved these stories and we got some great writing based on them/inspired by them.

Super short, like the cover says - but once ...
Super short, like the cover says - but once children get used to concentrating for the 2 minutes needed, very enjoyable for reading out loud in class. Some amusing, some thoughtful.
