Samba De Amigo (Nintendo Wii)

It is Fun
Ok, this game is pretty much identical to the Dreamcast version in terms of levels and songs from what I remember. For those not in the know:You need 2 Wii remotes. You have to shake them to a beat of a song in the positions indicated on the screen - 6 possible positions for a Wii remote.Think of the Guitar Hero or Dancing Mat games but with Maracas. Then there are "Poses" where you hold the remotes in the indicated position. Then "Dances" where you move the remote(s) over the indicated spots. (A moving pose effectively)You do not need to calibrate your Wii remotes, it says "player calibration" as far as I can figure you are calibrating yourself.Samba on the Dreamcast meant you had to choose your height, then move the maracas up and down to hit those spots. The Wii version has you pointing up, forward or down. Does this work? I think it does, I find myself almost naturally doing this as I raise / lower the remotes anyway.A few odd things when you shake them, it seems you can almost "blag" some points by vigorously shaking the remotes to cover 2 spots, as opposed to just the one. This does not mean you are going to complete the song this way. I also found dance moves can be done by shaking the remotes vigorously with more reliable outcomes then trying to do it properly. It feels sometimes if you shake the remote too quickly before you move it into the correct position, it won't register that you are in fact shaking it in the correct position. I guess it is limitations of the remote. So occasionally it gets annoying. On difficulty, I was able to get through Easy and Normal levels on my first attempts, with A ranks. Hard need a couple of attempts. I did these first 3 in one evening. Super Hard needs more attempts - not completed yet. It gets to the point on Hard and Super Hard where you can think "AHH, what is going ON?!?"The songs - well - I have to say compared to some of the other games, I like the songs, I think they got a good selection. The should be more pleasing for most people. Soul Bossa Nova, Dance mix of Tubthumping, Rock version of Take on Me (Reel Big Fish I think), Sway, Smooth, Low Rider to give an idea.People will laugh at you for buying it, until they get into it, it can be a great game to play with your friends, as you compete to do better. The are some mini games, like whack a mole, or brick breaking. There are some multilayer games, like Co-operative or 1 vs 1.You can buy songs as well, the first pack had 3 songs for 500 Wii Points (about £5) if you feel it is worth it. Personally I would rather 5 songs for 500 Wii points at least.Turn the music up to get yourself into the song and really do well!

So Much Fun- and some weight loss too !
I absolutely love this game. I bought it to add some variety to my wii exercise workout and have been playing it non stop for weeks!I would highly recommend this game for fun, fun , fun and a mini workout. I've loss on average 2lbs every week, in the last 3 weeks just playing this game.I usually add salsa dance moves, step aerobics, really just putting my whole body into it, (if your sweating after two - three songs, then you're doing it right!)I usually play on easy, in the quick play categories so it is less complicated, and easier to add salsa moves. I would highly recommend calibrating the remotes before play. Although you can play with the nunchuk and remote, I've found it far more beneficial with two remotes as this allows for nonrestrictive movements. The Best Bits*The song list alone is fantastic with more songs than 40 tracks and some unlock as you play through the career levels. As well there is the option to download more songs with wii points.*The game play will really brighten you up, and the back ground style on screen is just bright and cheerful.*I really motivating to get off the couch, especially on the days you can't be bothered to go to the gym.*Excellent fun for multiplayer's.*The hustle mood can be fantastic and a nice extra challenge, ( the hustle man sound effect can be very annoy, to switch him of go to options> dance sound effects> select none ;)The Bad Bits*As been stated before, by just about every review , the controls can be a bit of a let down when you play beyond the hard level.*The mini games included, are just rubbish, I would have rather 2 more songs in it's place.OverallI give this game 4 stars, and would have given it five, if the controls work well past the hard level. A full 5 stars for fun!

So glad noone was there to watch...
This game is simple, but enormous fun. I played it for 2 1/2 hours without realising - it is that addictive. The tunes on it can be a bit strange - Tubthumping a la Mexican was a bit wierd - but the vast majority are the kind of thing you'd expect, from 50s classics like La Bamba right up to current. And knowing the music certainly helps me enjoy the game far more! This is a great game for helping kids develop rhythm, and even greater for old birds like me who want a little less development in the bingo-wing department! It certainly works those arms! My 10-year-old son whipped through the training and performed brilliantly too!Incidentally, I also bought the plain white maracas (currently £7.00ish, not the Enigma ones) of which the wiimotes just slip into the handles. They work brilliantly with this game, tho maybe someone just sitting and watching might find the noise a bit much. They help give realism to the game, although we have found it easier to navigate around the screen using the control buttons, which are completely accessible, while the maracas are in place. To sum up, great fun, great exercise, and I can't wait to host a wii party with it, if the amount of time I spent laughing at myself is anything to go by!

Fantastic fun for everyone!
I bought this game over a year ago and it is still a favorite when people come round. Whether it is friends that have come round for dinner and some drinks or my 7 and 9 year old neices everyone can have a go. This is not for the serious gamer but is a bit of fun and is quite addictive, even people that are not keen get into it once they have had a go. One thing to note is that I have bought two sets of maracas (they are essential to really enjoy it!). go on buy it! you will not regret it.
