Such a beautiful story!
I purchased this book for my ten year old who is always telling me how much she wishes she had her mom's curly hair. Growing up in a Puerto Rican household everyone in my life always straightened their hair. Including me. It took me years to embrace my curly hair when in high school people started telling me how pretty it was. But I didn't really LEARN how to take care of it until I was an adult. This book was so beautiful that it made me cry! For every curly haired little girl who always felt they needed to look like their straight haired friends, this book is definitely for you! Such an uplifting story, it gave me all the feels :)

Middle Grade Graphic Novel
This is a Young Middle Grade Graphic Novel. I really loved all the drama with the main character's hair. I loved the message in this book. The pictures are cute in this graphic novel. I do think this book is on the young side of Middle Grade. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.I have brought a copy of this book since.

super good story for kids
This is a great story for older kids going through tough emotions (doesn't have to be related to hair, yet this story especially touches on that well). The art is lovely and it gives a good message near the end for sure.

Cute!
A pleasant book for middle schoolers about hair, self-acceptance, and cultural expectations. A little heavy on narration and a little thin on plot, but the artwork is pretty cute.

Representation Matters
I bought this book for my nine-year-old grandniece. She has beautiful bright red fuzzy big hair, and she loves to wear it in many ways with pride. She said she loved the book because she could see herself in the character. Representation matters.😊
