Simple no-frills Unmanaged Switch!
This TRENDnet GREENnet unmanaged network switch comes highly recommended by me! Easy to use, plug-n-play, silent, compact, and great quality are some of the words and phrases I would use to describe this Switch. It is a Gigabit switch with a metal case. No connectivity issues and nothing to question. 5/5 * and recommended! It does exactly what was expected of it.

.......on the tin!
I bought this to extend ethernet wired access from my BT hub located downstairs near the phone socket and lounge TV with Apple TV and YouView to an upstairs bedroom where it allows connection to PS3, Vodaphone network access thingy, and Apple airport express. I wanted to allow the PS3 to have Gigabyte access to the BT hub so I chose this equipment. I could have easily managed with fewer ports but the extra cost for 8 ports was not significant and the power save function that switches off unused ports means that the larger device remains cost effective to run, and of course allows for future expansion. The TG-S82g was very easy to install. I simply plugged everything in and switched on and it worked. (I followed the rule to switch on the device nearest the Router first and then connect and power up other devices in turn. ) The Switch seems to be robustly constructed, it does not get hot and it has been running now for some months without incident. No restarts or noticeable glitches. Well priced, well made, and it does what I wanted.

Wow £16 for an 8 port Gigabit unmanaged switch!?
I loved this for its value and excellent build quality (I got the metal case version with an external power supply). This works flawlessly with my entire network. It feels like a budget item to me in terms of its network throughput but allows transfer of big files at disk to disk speeds over the LAN and works well with SKY broadband

Great switch but I received a discontinued since 4/16/2014 version
Does exactly what it says, provided 7 more ethernet ports on my UPC router. Because this is a gigabit switch and my router is only 10/100, it makes sense to connect LAN devices together on the switch, because they can benefit from the gigabit network speeds. Got it in the black Friday lightning sales for £13.99 and although it works fine, I was disappointed when it arrived as I got v1.0R (which has been a discontinued TRENDnet product since 4/16/2014). The units themselves seem to look identical but my v1.0R came in an orange/black box and the newer v2.0R units seem to come in a blue/black box. Slightly annoying on Amazons behalf that they didn't explicitly say "this is a discontinued model". Not sure what the differences are between v1.0R one and the newer ones but I'm sure they could have only been improved in the newer models. Seems to be working fine however, so for the price I'm quite happy with it.

Instant upgrade to a gigabit network
I bought this to improve speeds between my PC and HP Microserver, as copying large files across the network through my 100Mbps modem/router was taking far too long. Very impressed with the compact size, I was expecting something bigger, but this is a very small box that can easily be tucked away discreetly. It would have been nice to have some keyhole slots on the bottom for wall mounting, but you can't have everything. As soon as I received it, I switched round the network cables so that my old router is now just supplying the broadband connection, and all my other network traffic is running through this switch. No issues, everything worked straight away (quick reboot of the server required) and now runs at a nice fast data throughput rate.

Research but you will come back to this one!
Good quality and is a vast improvement on my 5 port plastic switch that used to overheat. It's fast and copes with my demands very well. I use it to connect a smart TV using BT streaming, a Roku streaming TV, an Apple TV, an internet capable DVD player as well as WiFi connected mobiles and Pads. I can see that smart TV's will develop into high performance TV/computers at acceptable prices and the need for external boxes will disappear. In the meantime if you want choice and flexibility in what you watch, where you watch it and when, without freezing screens buy this quality switch.

Small but functional piece of kit
Excellent value what makes the product different is that the Ethernet cables connect to the rear with the front displaying the light for each port connected. Would recommend.

Fit and forget.
Perfect little 8 - port metal cased switch, version 2.0R. Easy to set up - just plug everything in, that's all. Have now bought two having outgrown the previous 5-port versions. All have run perfectly servicing PlayStation, Xbox, hi-fi streamers, Humax TV box, TVs Blu-ray players, and Home Cinema amp. No issues at all.

This is a surprisingly great switch, it's far cheaper than most switches with similar capabilities. My primary use is for the VLAN capabilities, being able to mix port-based (untagged) and tagged-packet based VLANs is invaluable. I've currently got three of these units, all trunked at 2Gb/s each, which works beautifully as well. They're not Cisco, but they're not priced like Cisco either, they're top-of-class for their niche.

A great product! A must have for domestic media centers. The item is durable, easy to place, requires not set up, and ensures a stable and fast connections to all ports
