Why the New Leaders 100-Day action Plan is Important
As a retained search consultant, I believe it is important for both the client and the candidate that new hires have the most effective start possible. The momentum they pick up here will go a long way to establish their overall effectiveness in their new role. The New Leaders 100-Day Action Plan is a step-by-step tool to assist in this process. As part of our recruiting process, I traditionally present this book to those senior executives that have been hired. This book is practicial, "how to" and easy to read. Those who follow it quickly have a positive impact on the new organization.

Worthwhile
This isn't the type of book that you read once and put away, it's more of a continuous reference text, even after you have used it to guide you through the early stages of your arrival in a new company, its insights continue to be relevant and valuable. I would suggest you bookmark and makes notes on the parts that you feel speak to you the loudest as you will likely come back to them time and again.I'm not new to senior management roles but I bought this book before undertaking a position in a company that I already knew had a, dare I say, a 'horrible' company culture.I'd spent the last number of years in a large (10,000 people,) high-velocity organisation that prided itself on its profitability, its ability to grow rapidly and react quickly to an ever-changing business environment. One where creativity was not only encouraged, it was the order of the day, and an element of calculated risk-taking topped it all off. My new job is in a large, loss making, sluggish, semi-state that is trying hard to transform itself, despite its many issues, chief among them its people and its stone age company culture. They are bureaucratic by nature, view foreigners with suspicion, are comparatively not well educated, unionised, and are very self-entitled. This book contributed greatly to what would otherwise have been a far more frictious transition for me had I not read it.My point is this, this book is not just for someone taking on their first leadership role, it is also highly relevant for anyone making the transition from one company culture to another. As an aside, I've found that some of the advice here can lead you to clash with established people/groups, typically those who have an aversion to change and managers in general, as you work to make your mark in the months following your arrival.

A great tool to help you structure your thinking and gain insight into your objectives, goals, and plans
The 100 day action plan is as others have described it - most of the content is obvious once you read it. The great part about this book is that it makes you actually sit down and think about it, and it structures your thinking process. Could you come up with some of these items and ideas on your own? Absolutely - eventually. I'm happy to pay the price for a tool that helps me organize my thoughts, gives me a structure of ideas to think through, and makes me really analyze what I want, why I want it, and a plan to obtain it. I definitely recommend this book to those who are interviewing for a new position as a leader, even if you have already been a leader before. It will help you articulate your thoughts, reasoning, goals and objectives in a more concise manner. Well done!

Read it before a new job if you can, but read it!!
I've been with my company for 13 years but started a new executive position this past July. Like the book said, by chapter 3, I was cursing not having bought the book earlier. Quite a bit of the recommendations and process are things we already do internally, but I've never found it in a more easy to understand or well thought out format. I've sent the Amazon link to all of my direct staff as they'll all be shifting roles with a reorganization I'm in the middle or implementing. I'm strongly encouraging them to read it well before day 1. Thank you for the excellent resource

Not an easy read. Not engaging
If you’re thinking you are going to sit and read and not want to drop it, you’d be wrong. It will take some dedication to finish this book. It is not that engaging.

Good book had good approached to preparation for future advancement and a lot of common sense. I was preparing for a job change and I fouond this book was extremely helpful especially in areas I needed to prepare myself. Definitely a book for the shelfs and it presented a very logical approach for new leaders. To anyone that has ever been promoted to a leadership position this is a must read. It details a lot of things one doesn't normally think about when approaching new leadership jobs or rolls within an organization. This book is a positive purchase for my vast library of leadership bhooks I have collected over the years.

Must read for those searching or starting a new role
This book is a must read for those about to embark in a new role. Valuable resource that needs to be read even before your new position begins. Great onboarding processes are discussed, and initial goal setting, team building and assimilation ideas. It is a book that I will refer to often and one that I will pass on to anyone in our organization that is about to begin a new position of responsibility. Concise and to the point, I highly recommend this quick read to not only new, but 'existing' leaders.
