Q: is it suitable for left handed user

Absolutely, I'm left handed & I have no problem using it.. I've had this opener 4 a couple of years now & it's great..

Q: Has anyone tried it on the larger 2-3 kg catering cans or the "rectangle" corned beef cans ?

I bought two of these so that we could safely open large cans bought in France, (Duck leg Confit 5Kg) which had a heavier edge than normal UK can openers could handle - we broke or bent three or four before I bought these. Brilliant, simple & safe & work every time; took one to France for my mother in law as well. So I would say go for it, my wife always uses this can opener now as so much easier and safer.

Q: Will it open fray bentos large pie lids, these have a slightly angled side edge

Hi yes it does and very well no sharp edges either...... takes a bout 4 turns but it does it very well am well impressed regards DTB

What am I doing wrong? I can get the can opener to attach but it isn't cutting - on inspection it looks like the cutting disc is no where near the lid
