Not LED! Awesome incandescent tester!
Just so everyone is clear Yes, the bulbs are red and yes the current draw is low when used on a 12V circuit (around 30 milliamperes) but this is not an LED test light. The relatively low current is because this is designed to work on a 24V system as well. Having said that...This is a great tester! Very versatile (6V - 24V). High impedance lamp is safer for automotive computer circuitry. Red light is easier to see in direct sunlight. Cord stretches smoothly yet doesn't dangle near moving parts and springs back easily, even when cold. (Stretching beyond 8' takes a minute to spring back). Just a great overall general-purpose test light. [Clamp is crimped - I recommend soldering it] The package incl. 2 replacement lamps (red).

Comparable to Craftsman brand in quality
I use this all the time. Some other folks in the shop have Craftsman and you can hardly tell them apart. Save your money and buy this one. The cord is crimped to the clamp but you can solder it on. The tip is very sharp and heavy duty. The spring loaded clamp is very strong and doesn't come off easily. It's chrome plated. The spiral cord is insulated with a very soft flexible rubber. It is very forgiving after being stretched out.I would recommend this over the name brand testers and the Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-5513 Heavy Duty Circuit Tester

Better quality tester
There are circuit testers that sell for half the price. This one is better in many ways:1. It uses LED that will give you much better life2. The bulb contacts are well made, not like some cheap tester which will give you incorrect readings because of poor contact3. It will detect voltage as low as 1 AA battery - with the light very dim but noticeable (try it with bad contacts!).4. Coiled wire will not be on your way and will make storage of this tool much more compact with other tools in the same drawer not tangled in the loose wire.

High quality circuit tester
There are many similar testing lights, this one is very heavy duty, high-quality flexible cable, the fine tip on end is the correct size for testing fuses with 2mm opening. I highly recommend this circuit tester. I previously bought a cheaper item similar to this one. The wires broke off after a few uses in tight spaces. This unit is superior and will last many years in my opinion.

Liked the first so bought a second = work and home
This is a second purchase of this item so I could have one for work and home. Good quality for the price. Clamp holds up great , light visible under all conditions.Have had no problems with stretch cord as others noted, both of mine return to normal shape just fine. Both purchases a good shopping experience and arrived on time in great shape. Thank you to all involved.

Best circuit tester I've ever had thus far
Best circuit tester I've ever had thus far. The cheap ones you get at Walmart or autostores always crack. This one is actually really good quality with a red bulb that lights up for easy to see testing. I can see this tool lasting for quite a while in my tool box. Be careful - it's quiete pointy and don't lose the extra bulb they give you like me!

My honest opinion...
The probe is well made (I don't know where) the led bulb when it work is GREAT... the problem is that the LED is low quality; I has a resistor, it went wrong 3 times in a year of mild use, and the 3rd time also the LED stop working. I bought an incandescent 12 volt bulb and adapt it in the LED thing and so far its working fine. But for sure I will prefer a LED bulb of better quality! The flaw obviously is not a minor one... but its fixable! PD: I bought a new 3mm LED and a new resistor from a shop near by... and it only works in the positive polarity... I suppose the original ones that comes with the circuit tester is a "special" one that works with the 2 polarities (+ and -).
