If you update the machine it will only let you use highly over priced Epson ink.

Do not buy this printer it is a piece of junk. I've already had replaced the ink it will not use anything but eppersoning but then on top of it it's telling me to change out the magenta which I've never used. Now I can't get it to print in black and white at all even though there's Black Ink in here. Junk. And now I'm stuck with this thing. Going in the trash I guess. I'll buy locally

Pretty much from the start I haven’t been able to print anything heavier than 20lb paper. It worked fine for quite awhile. I don’t print much.. I bought a new $40 xlblack 212 ink cartridge and it recognizes the cartridge but prints very streaky light as if empty. I don’t know what to do. I had it clean heads and now 2 colors are empty so put new ones in I had because it doesn’t print if any cartridge is empty.. It also says on the printer if color is empty I can print in black. There’s no button to do that. I have a Chromebook and can’t find software to download to have more printing options if there are any. It does print good from iPhone and Chromebook. Any suggestions on my ink dilemma?

Epson XP 4105 did a firmware update and now my printer only recognizes Epson brand ink cartridges forcing me to pay more. When I contacted Epson support, they let me know that purchasing reasonably priced ink is a violation of the warranty. So they let me know that this printer is designed to use proprietary ink. IF you purchase and the ink you are using is working.... DO NOT perform the firmware update.

They did an update on their software which now requires you to only use thier brand ink or the printer will not funtion. This is a complete rip off to anyone who purchased these printers in the past. Do not buy this product.
