Almost perfect! But the clamp for the tablet is tight
EDIT about a year later: I’m changing this to five stars. The stand is sturdy and versatile, and the clamp loosened up enough over time that now I don’t have any trouble using it with my iPad in its case. This stand is definitely worth five stars. The only two complaints: 1. The clamp is still a bit tight to fit around an iPad in a case *with* room for an Apple Pencil… but that’s a lot to ask, and it does work! 2. It’s pretty easy to accidentally move the arm over into a position where the whole thing then topples over. But it’s also pretty easy to put something heavy on the base if you want it to have a wider range, and if you want a really wide range of movement then get the version with the clamp instead. This appears to be the best tabletop tablet stand out there, overall. The arm is extremely well engineered, the base is heavy and stable and has excellent anti-skid feet. Even the ball joint at the top has enough friction to hold a fairly heavy tablet in place while still being widely adjustable. The only problem is the clamp that holds the tablet. If you compare it to the “retail kiosk” tablet stand from the same manufacturer AddTek, which is probably visible on this page, you can see that clamp has plenty of locations to grip it to be able to pull out against the force of the spring. And if you compare to a couple other brands that both start with L, which I’m also seeing on this page, you see clamps that have metal bars for the sliding part which allows you to grip inside the clamp ends, and another one that has actual red loops around the outside to give a strong handhold. This one, the only way to grip it at all is a tiny little smooth plastic lip. I am very strong, I can max out a 200-lb grip strength meter, but the awkwardness of this clamp design makes it a real pain to use. I can get it on and off of my 11” iPad Pro if I place the stand on a table in front of me so I have clear access with both hands, but trying to, say, reach down from above while standing and release the iPad with one hand... well, that’s basically not possible with this design. I have another tablet holder that is a clamp on top of a standard music stand, and the spring is just as tight but it is much, much easier to operate because I can get a finger inside the mechanism and pull easily when it’s open. If you plan to use this with a phone or a small tablet like an iPad mini, I don’t think you will have any trouble. If you plan to use it with a full-size tablet like an iPad Pro 11”, and you intend to put the tablet in the stand and then never take it out, well then this will work really, really well for you, because the tablet certainly won’t ever fall out accidentally! But if you want to use it intermittently with a full-size tablet, especially a tablet with a protective case, you will find this very awkward and difficult to use and I can’t recommend it for that use case. This is really very disappointing because in literally every other way this stand is perfect, it’s head and shoulders above all the competition. And it’s especially disappointing that the clamp is so poorly designed since this same manufacturer sells other tablet holders that look like they are much, much better. I’m hoping the manufacturer reads this (and the dozens of other reviews complaining about the clamp being hard to operate!) and does a straightforward redesign.

The stand I've been searching for for years!
I use my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 3 primarily bedside as a media device. it is my night clock, alarm, video and music system, Plex media, and book/magazine reader. My Nightstand is a little higher than my mattress, so I've tried multiple stand that I can lower the screen to approximatelly the same height as the base, and slightly forward, without the fear of toppling. The weight of the base and the ability to tighten all the hinges with the included allen wrenches makes this exceptional for my use. Unlike other stands, This is aluminum. The other stands I've purchased with similar screws at the hinges were plastic, and never held, and loosened constantly (the 2-in-1 stand for under the counter and desktop use you can find here.) I suffered with it for 2 years, not being able to find anything better... until now. The main arms swivels 360 degrees, so you can point it towards the back of the base. The head swivels so you can point it straight down. the wonderful addition of the 1/4" camera adapter makes it a wonderful stand for desktop macro or food photography, and the stand is heavy and sturdy enough to support my full size DSLR camera. What a plus! It does fold up nicely for storage, but at 3 1/2 lbs it will add a little heft to your suitcase, but it's worth it. If you plan on using it as a POS or check-in system, it can take a solid touch without tipping or changing position, I cannot stress how sturdy this is. The bracket is a simple pressure one, so placing the table or phone is not a 3-handed job (or 2 hands and a chin as with the other bracket that had a latch in the back), the brackets are small, and has cutouts for a usb charging port. The brackets do not cover any ports on my tablet, LG G6, or Iphone 7. And yes, it's really nice that the same bracket accommodates tablets and phones, both apple and android. Is total, one of the best designed and manufactured items I've purchased, and including the camera bracket was pure genius. Thank you AboveTEK, I *will be telling my friends!

Very sturdy tablet stand and highly recommended
Very happy with this stand. I bought a similar stand from a major and well known supplier of Apple accessories. However, that manufacturer made a revision to their product that weakened the connection of the arm to the base. Furthermore, they refuse to acknowledge the defect in their redesign and do not honor their "one year" warranty. This AboveTEK is identical in almost every way to the other stand. The only difference is that the base looks different (but is just as sturdy and hefty) and the omission of the option to use a desk clamp in lieu of the weighted base. The attachment of the arm to the base is all-metal versus the plastic used on the other manufacturer's revised model. The inclusion of a camera mount (using a standard 1/4" camera mount) is a nice inclusion although I have many photographic tripods and I am unlikely to use it.

Adjustable, articulated stand. Best suited to smaller/lighter devices. Wobbly with some tablets.
I was looking for an articulated stand for my iPad Pro 10.5”. This looked like a solidly built stand. It has favorable reviews. I received mine and assembled it. The base and arm are metal with plastic inserts in the arm openings. The base is probably steel. The arm is probably aluminum. The grip head that grabs a device is all plastic. The spring-loaded grips extend out to accommodate a range of device sizes. The grip head attaches to the arm with a threaded collar. The collar locks a gear-shaped piece with a ball on it into the adjustable ball and socket swivel. It is easily adjusted for rotation angle and pitch with a thumb knob. The arm articulates nicely. There are two Allen/hex wrenches included for adjusting and tightening the joints of the arm to a more fixed setting. Overall, it is well built. I like the look and feel of it. It raises my iPad up to a preferable height. I’m not a huge fan of the all-plastic grip head. It seems a cheap finish to an otherwise solid build. It does work, though. The main issue I have is that it is wobbly. When I used the tablet, tapping the screen - it bounces and wobbles. (see the video included) I can see the upper part of the arm flexing and twisting with the wobble. This is kind of a deal breaker for me. I wanted something that will hold the tablet at the height I would like, but not wobble during use. The two thin aluminum strands of the arm flex too much for my liking. I think this is the design problem. If the arm sections were solid, rather than open/strands, I think this would be more stable and not twist and wobble. I tried an older 7” Android tablet I have and the stand was still wobbly. Pros: Solidly built. Smooth articulations. Highly adjustable with thumb knob and Allen/hex wrenches. Nice look and feel. Cons: Not well suited to tablets 7” and larger. Wobbly. Plastic grip head vs. metal. UPDATE: This was just too wobbly. On anything that involved watching or reading while interacting or tapping, it was just too hard to get past the wobbling. I returned this stand for a refund.

Great product & exceptional customer support!
I had a good idea that I was going to enjoy this stand when I hefted the box from the porch. I recalled the ad blurb putting the weight at about 3.5 lbs, and upon removing the stand from the box, it definitely felt, stand-wise, like I'd crossed an indefineable line from "accessory" to "gear". This baby's well designed and the concept beautifully engineered. Both arms and bracket clamps have openings through which cabling can be passed. I like that AboveTEK included a pair of Allen wrenches, though they weren't necessary for assembly. In fact, the only "assembly" that I had to accomplish was affixing the holder-bracket to the stand. In no time, I had a Fire HD10 mounted and in use. The stand's joint tension and swivel angles are beautifully configurable — when I set the stand's position, it STAYS there. I have the tablet in the stand about an arm's-length away, and it's cool that, as I tap-in a dictionary search entry, the device jiggles almost imperceptively. I also have a goose-neck stand, but even when holding my lightest tablet, it seemed to bob and weave if I only looked at it funny. Attaching and removing tablets are easy with my new stand — the tablet is held firmly, but without an inordinate amount of pressure being exerted. The bracket on that old goose-neck of mine had clamps that bore down with the force of a bear trap. Possible tablet damage was always a concern. In summary, the stand is literally better than I'd hoped for, but the mechanical and visual aspects of the device aren't really the best thing about this adventure. I'd sent AboveTEK a message noting that my order was delivered without the quarter-inch camera adapter that was supposed to be included. in less than two hours, I received the following reply from "Jay" in Customer Support: "We apologize for the incident of missing DSLR Camera Adapter in the package. In order to remedy for you, we have taken the initiative and shipped a free new replacement of the whole product "AboveTEK Long Arm Tablet Stand" to you with the shipping address as shown below. Expected arrival is by Wednesday, 4/11. You don't need to return the original unit and we are sorry again for the inconvenience." They even provided carrier and tracking information on the replacement. Now that's what I call customer support!

Great Quality! Very Happy!
Wide variation in height and angles. 3lb. base. It will tip if you overextend with a tablet but won't if you are reasonable. I am very happy with it. I use it for Zoom meetings and also for streaming shows and movies.

A great stand for a Surface Pro 4
A two product review of the AboveTEK holder with the optional large 5.5"-13" holder installed. I have a Surface Pro 4 and it does not fit the stand's small holder out of the box. But equipped with the larger bracket holder I can use the SP4 in portrait or landscape mode with ease and stability. The height if straight, places the screen just below eye level. But it can be placed in any orientation but anything more than a little tilt off center axis it will fall over. That's easy to fix with a little more weight on the stand. It has options for cable management under the base, a nice touch. I use it on a kitchen table. Typing puts a slight vibration on the screen. Touch, hard or soft will cause it to move a little, but no more than you would expect a single arm pole. The 1/4" included camera mount is a great touch. You can angle a camera in any orientation. If you do time lapse, this is fantastic. If you don't have a lot of space, this is another plus because it has a very small footprint. A lot smaller footprint than the SP4 has. It is heavier than you might expect but folds up rather tight for travel. I like this enough that I will probably end up with another one. My one complaint is that I can't buy the stand with the large bracket. It is really a great product at $40, but at $52 it is expensive.

Holds a 9.7" fifth-generation ipad in place. No problem!
This is my second "AboveTEK" product. And I'm just as happy with this as I am the first one. As many of us have done in 2020 (and will likely continue as a "new normal") i've been doing a great deal more video conferencing these days. AND I also do a good bit of training / demonstration videos, and needed something that could serve both as a second, specialty camera angle as well as a place to secure a small monitor (in my case - as seen in my photo - a 9.7" fifth-gen ipad) and this seemed to fit the bill well. My perceptions in order from unboxing to first use: - like the other AboveTEK product, it's nicely-packaged. - sturdy build quality without being bulky - well machined, and high quality "fit and finish" - very thoughtfully designed. LOVE the cable-chase in the baseplate! - easy to adjust, highly adaptable, and seems to stay where you put it under reasonable loads. superb for positioning a phone or small tablet!

Estupendo producto
