![The Theory Of Everything [DVD] [2015]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81xIzAzvUfL.jpg)

The Theory of Everything is the extraordinary and uplifting story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, and of two people defying the steepest of odds through love. The film, based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (Man on Wire). Review: Outstanding film. Worthy of its acclaim. - Wow! Some film! I see some critics have whined about a lack of science input and vague physics. This film is about the MAN, not his maths. It is about a very gifted individual who suffered an incredibly debilitating disease so early in his life. It demonstrates his determination and that of his young wife to face up to, deal and live with, the terrible effects of his incapacity. The film is nicely shot. It is not a "weepy", far from it. Redmayne is outstanding as Hawking. His likeness makes the film even more credible. His long suffering, but doting and loving wife, played by Felicity Jones, is also moving and she quickly engages the viewer. The film glosses over Hawking's science. Rightly so. Particle physics and cosmology are not easily understood by most people anyway, let alone trying to cram them into a film for the general public. To do so would have reduced this film to the level of a TV documentary. Yes, it could point out a little more clearly, that Hawking was far from alone in his field, but he was building of work already done. But ALL scientists do this. Thats how science progresses and it is impossible to credit every scientist over the past 80years in a film such as this.. Overall this a very, very good, moving, account of his life, his demons and his achievements. It is about family values and morality. It is a credit to Redmayne and Jones, but it highlights very well the notion that despite all that may befall you, it is still possible to achieve in life. Excellent viewing. (Except, perhaps, you are a Cosmologist!) Review: A Powerful Film - There was something special about this film. It portrays Jane's love, encouragement, care and amazing commitment to Stephen in such a realistic way. You are drawn into the pain, suffering and humour of this remarkable family. So often today, films are creating scenes that 'flit' backward and forwards at such an alarming rate...it was a joy to watch a true 'drama'. I was drawn into it immediately was and affected with the vast range of emotions from all the characters. There is no doubt that Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of Stephen was remarkable. The struggles of the characters were sensitively developed rather than being sensational. I find it difficult to describe this film adequately. It has that 'something special' and I honestly don't know what it is. I had seen it in the cinema and glad to have my own copy. Also priced very reasonably too.

Extraordinary
Many reviewers here have written at length about this film and the performances in it. Suffice it to say I found it both fascinating and involving, with excellent acting turns throughout. Mr Redmayne may have won the prizes for his performance but I thought Ms Jones was equally excellent; for me it was very much a double act. This is very much a film about their relationship(s) rather than Stephen Hawking's works - though there is a nod here and there to the brilliance. A beautiful film, beautifully performed, which had me in tears more than once. What an extraordinary life.

Redmayne's performance is mesmerizing. Truly amazing. Some of the finest screen acting I have seen, a very well deserved Oscar.
Redmayne's performance is mesmerizing. Truly amazing. Some of the finest screen acting I have seen. The film itself almost works....the story is well known, so I won't repeat it here. The shortcoming of the film is that so huge, great and influential life is very difficult to cover in a single film and keep entertaining, and so there are omissions and it doesn't quite work completely, even with the huge crop of talented British actors. But it is a very sound attempt to cover the Hawkin's story in a manageable film. Recommended, if for no other reason than to see Redmayne's performance.

Great movie
This is such a great movie - I love it so much. Even though Eddie Redmayne is playing a character who ends up disabled, and eventually doesn't meet my usual visuals for attraction - I totally fell for him watching this! Haha! I love the story of Hawking as I'd never really known much about him before; it's a really interesting and personal insight into his life and the beginning of his disease - as well as a wonderful story of how he continued and thrived in his adult life. I love it.

Wow
I really don't know what to say other than wow. It was well written but completely brought to life by the immense capability of the two lead actors. I saw it in the cinema and immediately went to buy it. Not initially intending to watch it again but I felt a need to support such a fantastic British Film as I feel with our support there will be more films made to such a high standard. I have since watched it again once I received the DVD and it never fails to blow me away. It was also interesting to find out more about Steven Hawking, someone who I have admired scientifically but have never really considered his background.

Eddie Redmayne is that good
So sad that this happened to Stephen Hawking just as his life was developing into something wonderful in both love and career and to be so young . What an amazing man to go on and live such a full and iconic life with such a devastating disability and after being told he had two years or so to live . And his first wife , what a wonderful and amazing woman as well . In the film when he crashed to the pavement I felt like I had been stabbed or something , the emotion of the film got me that much . Eddie Redmayne was the perfect actor for the part and he played it incredibly well . I don't think anyone else could play it as well as him . He is a phenomenal actor . I've seen several of his films and he is very good in all of them .

LOVED IT!!
I really enjoyed this and so did my 2 teenage children and it's rare that we all like the same movie. I've seen it twice now and Eddie Redmayne... what a memorable performance as Stephen Hawking. His acting's outstanding. It's a truly inspirational film about the power of love, triumph over adversity and believing in yourself and the people you're closest to. And if you have self belief, you can do anything you set your mind to...its true Definitely a must see film!

- " Genau. Ich drehe die Zeit zurück. " Lauflänge: 118.16 Minuten( mit Abspann ) ! Tipp!
